Cant load module errors

Just reimaged my laptop and did fresh install of X3.    Not only am I missing a ton of Direct X plugins (separate post) but when I do a VST scan I get a ton of errors saying  "cant load module :  xyz"
The names where i typed in xyz range from dehaupt , Unkargherth , EVM LP and Synthedit BPM clock ,  The error is pointing to c:\program files\cakewalk\shared utilities\vstscan   ( i cant read the test of the line)
I wonder if vstscan.exe file is corrupt or if there is a problem with the shared utilities folder.   Ever seen this guys?

Is SONAR running as administrator? It may be necessary for synthedit plug-ins.

I'm logging into windows with an account that has full admin rights.  Would that mean sonar is automatically running as admin?   Im not sure what synth edit plug ins are.  Are they just thrid party items a guy can google for?

It is not the same as running SONAR as administrator. To temporarily run a program as administrator, right-click the program name or icon and select the option. To setup a program to always run as administrator, right-click the program name or icon, select Properties and check the run as administrator option in the compatibility tab.

I believe dehaupt and Unkargherth refer to a couple of people who develop synthedit plug-ins. The "cant load module" error is a typical synthedit error message. The must be hundreds of free synthedit plug-ins. They are not part of any SONAR distribution. The plug-ins are something you downloaded and installed from another source.

Thanks Steve.   If it's third party i wont worry about it as it's not going to affect Sonar or stop it working.   I'll have a look at that running as admin item though.   Thanks bro.

It is only necessary to run as administrator if plug-ins require it. SONAR does not need to run as administrator. The only bundled plug-in with X3 which requires administrator is Pentagon and there is a modification to the registry to fix it.

If you do elect to run as administrator and the scan errors do not go away, it would be a good idea to isolate the plug-in(s) which do not load correctly and either resolve their issues or remove them from the scan path. Leaving misbehaving plug-in in the scan path is not a good idea.

Thanks Steve.  I found the third party item and removed it.  It was a kinda synth called Reese machine.   As far as those missing  direct x guys  i'll just have to install 3rd party vst plug ins.   They're all standard stuff like EQ and chorus.   One is a flanger which i dont use anyway.   The other was a tape sim which i dont like.   So not the end of the world.
But there is an amp simulator which i did like so I'll have to download a replacement for him.  I have a site open as we speak which has a load of amp simulators.    So making progress bit by bit. Thanks man  :)

Older DX plug-ins may not be installed by default. I have not installed 32bit SONAR in years. Try running an advanced install of X3. It is an installer option after the 32/64 page. This will provide a pick list which includes items not part of the basic install. If the plug-ins are not shown in the X3 pick list, you will need to run an advanced install of an older version of SONAR.

Yeah tried running the advanced option early on when this all happened but no diff.   Now , you might have something when you mention earlier editions.    i bought X3 years ago and had the install files on an external hard drive.   When i went to install on the new laptop the install files gave a "file corrupt" error.   So i downloaded X3 again from my profile page on the Cakewalk site.
It's possible the X3 files are different today.   A long shot for sure but it might be reason it is not installing the same way on the new laptop.   But... no biggie.  I downloaded some blue cat plug ins and am looking a whole bunch of amp simulators.    I'm a country guy and my songs are very guitar driven.  Im a fan of  Aldean, Church, Parmalee, Kip Moore etc so the synth thing for me is not a big issue.   Mind you..... I will toy around with a couple to try get some good keyboard sounds to add to the chorus 'n what not.     Thanks for all the help Steve.    mighty neighbourly.
