Custom button ~ View / Console buttons Still not working.

It’s really simple now that I get what’s going on.
When Sonar has “custom buttons” and I open up the options and I select an option for a bottom.
I expect that the button will perform the operation selected.
So if I create a button that is view / console and click on said option button that even says “console”
I expect to see the console view and not the Multi View…

Win10pro and Win8.1 Splat many updates including 22. 9

peace!

The Console View option available for Custom buttons calls the same functions as the main menu option Views > Console View, keyboard shortcut ALT+2. It appears to work the same way using all three methods.

The video shows the console view opening just like it does when calling the same function from the menu or the default keyboard shortcut. Binding the function to a custom button is not going to change the way it works. To have a function which works differently is a feature request not a problem report.

If the console view button goes to the Multi View then what is the console view button called?

I really don’t understand how a normal logical name going to the wrong option is normal…

The Console View by default opens in the Multi-Dock just like most other views.   So the custom button is doing nothing different that the menu option...    well, in reality that's exactly what all the custom buttons do, they provide an icon to a command located elsewhere.

Do you agree that the button you created performs the same action as as the main menu option Views > Console View, keyboard shortcut ALT+2?

I found a work around so it's all good... :) So if cakewalk thinks they don't need a button to open the console view. I'm sure that all the mac guy will see that they really only need the multi view and frankly won’t need the track view as that is in the multi view as well. Maybe the track views all the other views can just hang out in the Multi view as well then it will be just like Sonar 7… :)

BTW. I don't use hot keys that much... I only have one good hand and it stays on the mouse... just faster for me that way... hey if my disability isn’t being accommodated….
And telling me that even thou it works the way most use it so the rest don’t matter…
Many users don’t like the multi view, yet there it is…

Then again, I believe that Cakewalk’s end game is to build a fully customizable DAW… so none of this really matters anyway… lol

    Have a good one!
