Hi John,
Yeah, I went to make myself a snack and came back ten minutes later and Sonar was still not responding.
I have just rolled back to 2016.06 to see what happens.
I'm currently going back to an old WRK file that was an all MIDI project that I used to drive my small collection of hardware synths. I no longer have my hardware synths set up and I was wondering if it would be worth updating this old project to use my current collection of soft synths.
I've ended up deleting all MIDI tracks except one, which I then set up to drive an instance of Hive. At first, all seems fine, but if I stop playback Sonar hangs.
I opened event viewer and noticed that there was a pedal sustain message in there. Two actually, to hold and then release.
Now that I have deleted those messages, Sonar doesn't hang (at least not yet). It seems that Hive doesn't like those messaged... Weird, but I've learned something new.
I'll have to concede that in this instance, it must be my fault, but I have been having issues in other projects too, so I just jumped to conclusions and went into moan mode. Apologies for that...
I think I'll go ahead and update Sonar to the latest version again and see how I get on. And in this resurrection project, I'll have to check each old MIDI track and get rid of any controller messages that may be causing a problem with Sonar or the soft synths.
cheers
andy
