Hi,
I don't blame them.
I remember in 1995 or there about, when Marillion could not afford to go into the studio to do their next album, and they pulled ideas from their website, and the fans, essentially paid for it, and then they got a signed album and a free ticket for a show, and maybe more ... or less.
At the time GONG was having the same issues, and I was telling them to get their website going and stop looking for someone else to distribute their CD's, and music.
Nowadays, you have to do it yourself, if you are going to get anything off it. There is no "record company" any more (so to speak!) and trust me, or Bapu, or anyone else ... if you sell 50K or 100K that those bastards will be knocking your doors down, and making sure you do not get some sleep until they get the distribution deal ... and you can pretty much call your shots at that point better than most folks in the business.
Bands like Dream Theater, also made it off their website ... not that they did not have the ability, either!
