PSYN II VST Format???

After recently being reunited with PSYN II and realizing how religiously I used it in my FL Studio projects in the past, I was disappointed to find out that DXi plugins will no longer show up in FL Studio's plugin browser and that in the future, Image-line may just completely end support for them.

So, is there a VST version of this special PSYN II plugin out there? Or is there any chance of it happening at all?

Z3ta would be your best bet for a replacement as PSYN is mostly a subset of Z3ta and they were developed by the same person. I think you can get the original version from a Computer Music back issue.

There are also supposed to be adapters and chainers to let you run DX plugins in VST hosts.

Is it DX instruments in general that won't work with FL Studio, or PSYN specifically? AFAIK it was a Cakewalk exclusive and never sold separately, and it's not uncommon for such plugins to be married to their host, intentionally incompatible with other DAWs (e.g. True Pianos). You may have just gotten lucky that it ever worked with FL at all.

As Russ notes above, Z3ta+ is the successor to PSYN. PSYN III if you will. Longtime fans might take issue with that statement and honestly I wouldn't know, not being a fan of either one. But that's what I hear.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Technically PSYN I was more like z3ta+ 0.75, or Pentagon dressed up for a rave. PSYN first appeared in Project 5 and was generally seen as a cut down version of z3ta+.

@bitflipper: have you checked out the muz3um set for z3ta+? They included wave forms from a lot of vintage analog gear.

I'll take your word for it.

Now, if I could open PSYN presets/programs in z3ta+ that would be great but the adapter thingy could work too.

I like Z3ta+ once I got beyond the EDM biased presets. Get down and dirty with the waveshaping and multiple envelopes and LFOs and its very powerful.

You may want to try this DXi to VSTi wrapper:
    http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/us/products/dxrack/dxrack.htm

There is a free one there, just scroll down.  This is very old software and it may or may not work.  As noted the best option is to purchase Z3ta+ though.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.
