No sound during playback - Sonar Artist
Good day, forum During playback I get no sound out of a channel, track, until I move the volume wheel on my keyboard. This is very frustrating. During recording, I can hear the sound, but as soon as I play what I recorded, it's like I muted it. I have just finished an intro to this theme I am working on and now I don't know if my other tracks will do the same. Help, pelase.

a little info on your specs would help as it could be a routing issue in your soundcard. but we know very little of what you are using so cant say for sure.

Thank you for the quick reply. I am using Sonar artist, M-audio 61 keystaion, and EastWest Libraries. connected through a MOTU micro lite. now, my modulation wheel controls mostly the volume. If you look at the video I uploaded, you will notice that my celli won't play. I tap the modulation wheel, even just a little, and you notice the volume appears again and there is sound. here's a video I uploaded so you can see. double u... youtube.com/watch?v=6R0h9bSZfqI&feature=youtu.be Again thank you so much.

You need to have at least 5 posts to be able to link to a video, workaround is to get rid of the http and www and what not, and just start with youtube/ etc (in case you uploaded your video to youtube, obviously).

theres the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6R0h9bSZfqI&feature=youtu.be the thing I don't understand is this midi is feeding ? looks as if its feeding your speakers and not a synth (the midi track.) and even when you do see a level on the meter, in the inspector, I don't see a level at all. what is the midi feeding ? (what synth) I don't see (in your track) it routing to a synth.

Thanks chuck. When I create the synth, I opt out of creating a midi. Is this a problem?

Try going to PREFERENCES>PROJECT>MIDI and under 'Other Options' unchecking both 'Zero Controller's When Play Stops' and 'Patch/Controller Searchback Before Play Starts'. Soft synths that use modulation to control expression do not play well with these settings, particularly the zero reset.

WOW. you are awesome. Thank you all for the help. I finished my mock-up and getting ready to polish the tune. the "zero control" and "patch" settings to uncheck worked! I also watched the tutorials videos posted here. I will proceed to remove my video posted unless anyone wants to use it for reference.

alonzoeg . the "zero control" and "patch" settings to uncheck worked!
Great news! It was most likely the zero controller, so you can probably recheck the patch scan if you need to. It just tells Sonar to search back for the last patch in each midi track before starting to play. It is not of much use unless you have multiple patch changes on a midi track and are jumping around the timeline editing.
