yes, it should.

but uninstalling and reinstalling vs700 drivers (following the workflow from this forum, using moded driver .ini and driver signing off) should also do the trick.

Its looking like i need to re install and modify drivers again. something went wrong. has anyone else experienced this with an update? I'm thinking i need to disable automatic updates, or never let the os update again.

this is just happened with the big anniversary update (#1607), which was basically a windows 10 reinstall that affected all drivers (yet most others install by themselves). @1607 it happened to all of us. other updates were no problem (so far)

Yeah, I've been getting updates for a while but this update was large and took forever to update. Then I figured since the drivers were not there anymore, I rolled back thinking the drivers would reappear. Nope, no luck. So now my dilemma is...do I reupdate forward to the current version, and then do the driver mod? After I get through this....is there a way to turn off automatic updates for win10 ?

yes and yes and maybe.

I would update forward and get this #1607 win update inplace.
Then do the moded driver install. Worked so far for everyone who came here asking. May need some time / more than one trial.
You could turn off updates if you are totally offline, you could defer the major ones by a few months (like this one), but eventually (after several months) you'll be forced to update ...

I've hit a brick wall. It keeps telling me to uninstall which i have done numerous times.
it was never installed to begin with, so why does it keep telling me to uninstall?

Stupid me had my console on for the last two hours of trying....dooooy
realized my knucklheadedness, started from scratch and WE'RE BACK!

I was thinking....I think we're all just an update away from never using these things again. :(

Thanks for listening and helping.

WE'RE BACK!

well, then it is just the right time for a full system backup that you can roll back to next time have issues (and DON'T yet overwrite the previous full backup of your last working system)

even if you can finally work on your music again, that backup has to happen ;-)

Be aware that for SOME folks, Windows 10 installed with System Protection turned OFF (so no System Restore Points).

I make sure I create them for myself whenever I make a system change (like updates), and that has saved my behind a few times.

Please also be aware that Microsoft intentionally wants folks to have updates managed by MICROSOFT and not by the users, and it is a giant pain in Windows 10 to alter that.
