NI Maschine MK2 Vst does not work

Hey guys,
just bought a new toy, the NI Maschine MK2. The standalone works fine. Unfourtunately MC7 does not show the VST of Maschine. I reseted the Vst`s twice, but this did not work.
I have a Windows7 / Win64 PC, the Maschine VST is in a  VST64 folder, since i have alot of VST32. Most of them work just fine.

Music Creator 7 can be downloaded as either a 32 bit or 64 bit program.  Since most of your 32 bit VSTs work fine you likely have the 32 bit Music Creator 7 installed.  Use Windows Explorer to look at your hard drive and see where Music Creator is installed.  If it is installed under C:/Program Files it is 64 bit.  If the program is installed under C:/Program Files (86) it is 32 bit.

I'm assuming you have the 32 bit version of Music Creator 7.  When you use a 64 bit VST inside a 32 bit program you need an app to "bridge" the gap between 32 bit and 64 bit.

I believe, but do not know for sure, that Music Creator has a built-in app called Bit Bridge to perform that function.

Also. if you are using the 32 bit version of Music Creator it will only use "about" 4 gigabyte of memory even though your computer motherboard may have far more memory than that installed.  The combination of Music Creator and Maschine MK2 may require more memory than Music Creator can manage.  I just don't know.

Your assumption was correct...also i remebered that i had the 64 bit version installed first, but alot of the 32 vsts did not work in that version, so i switched to the 32 bit version...so, how do i "activate" Bit bridge ,when i install the 64 version?

Bitbridge automatically runs in the background when you add a 32bit VST into a project running in 64bit MC7. When possible use 64bit plug-ins when running 64bit MC7. There are cases of plug-ins which ship as both 32bit and 64bit that are platform specific. IOW, the 32bit plug-in does not work in 64bit hosts. Additionally, plug-ins which are 32bit only tend to fall into two categories: old unsupported products or plug-ins created with a tool like synthedit. Both classes of plug-ins have issues with 64bit hosts.

But if Bit brigde doesn`t fix this issue, what does it do then?

32bit plug-ins cannot run inside a 64bit DAW. Bitbridge is a server which loads 32bit plug-ins and handles the cummunication between the 32bit plug-ins and the 64bit DAW. I do not have Maschine and cannot help you with that device. I know it is new enough to ship both 32bit and 64bit versions of its plug-in so you should make sure you are using the appropriate plug-in for your host.

If Bit Brigde does not fix these issues, what ist it good for then?
I`m aware that this has nothing to to with the Maschine plugin, but with my 32bit plugins, if i switch to the 64bit version of MC7.

Bridge technology was never intended as a method to permanently extend the life of 32bit plug-ins. It was created as a method to use 32bit plug-ins while manufacturers transitioned to 64bit. Cakewalk released its first 64bit DAW in 2006. For several years there were very few 64bit plug-ins. AFAIK all plug-in developers who create 32bit plug-ins today also create 64bit versions. The exception are developers who use products like synthedit (or whatever it is called these days). This is why 32bit plug-in fall into the two categories mentioned above. Many of the problems with 32bit plug-ins stem from their age. The plug-ins were designed when XP was common. Since then the Windows security model has changed causing old plug-ins to require administrator access to the PC in order to work. Others just do not work well in newer OSes period. Add to that, there is performance penalty running 32bit plug-ins with 64bit DAWs because the bridge software handles all the I/O between the 32bit plug-ins and the DAW. In short, users committed to using 32bit plug-ins are better off using a 32bit DAW.
