Sonar Platinum + Battery3 + PCR-800 + ACT
Hello! I'd like to assign the pads on the PCR-800 to Battery 3's cells ( or AD2, Beatscape) with ACT in Sonar Platinum. I searched everywhere, but couldn't find anything that would make it work. I tried with ACT learn, in PCR Editor v.2, no luck. Probably i'm doing something wrong, so i'll be very happy if someone could help me with this. Thanks!

"Cells" are like notes, so you configure pads to send Notes. Either you configure Notes with synth expect (like AD2) or "MIDI Learn" these notes inside the synth. That information is recorded into MIDI tracks. ACT is not involved. ACT is only useful to control "parameters" of a synth, what you can see/record/edit as a track automatons. But even in this case, controlling the same parameters throw MIDI CC (so, recorded into PRV as well) is simpler approach (when allowed by synth).

Thanks for answering, but i'm about to give up. It seems very complicated to me or i'm just missing something. I wasted so many hours on this and got nowhere. What i'd like to do is this, for examle: I make a new kit in Battery with 16 cells. Within Battery, i can assign the PCR's keys to the cells (ie fom C1 through D#2) Of course i could use the PCR's keyboard to do the job, but those pads are just seems a better choice to control, programming drum samples, like on other control surfaces. So what i'd really like to do is setup the PCR-800's pads (from A1 to B8) to control those cells in Battery. I might ask a lot, but any chance to help me with a step by step guide how to set it up if you have time and patience enough? :) Anyway, thanks

If you can control cells with C1-D#2 keys, then the whole question is assigning C1-D#2 keys to pads. Then there will be no difference for Battery either you use pads or keys. You can also configure to transmit on another MIDI channel or even port, that way you can play drums with pads and play something else with keys (assuming you correctly assign Inputs for tracks in questions and enable "echo" for these tracks). I do not really have PCR... So I can not provide real step by step guide. But there are 2 ways: 1) (I think simplest to start with). Try to follow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8zlBPuk0fY . Video is not the best, but you should be able to follow 2) use the Editor on computer. I have installed it (v2.10, for Vista, downloaded from Roland) and it looks good. You need to select correct ports in "Options /MIDI Devices...". The manual recommend "EDIROL PCR 2" for input and "EDIROL PCR" for output. Then do "Communication/Receive..." to get current configuration from PCR (there is a tip what you should do on PCR side). Once done, click on A1 and set "Channel message" "Note" etc. Once done for all pads, do "Communication/Transmit".

Thanks for the tips! To be honest with you, i found this video earlier but i didn't watched it, because the quality of the video scared me away after a few seconds :) Now, I really did regret to be judged it by the look. It was made for me! But first, I gave a fast try to edit in PCR Editor v.2.10 the way you adviced and it works! I still don't understand a thing about how, what and why to adjust in this piece of hardware (i just can't process all this control map editing thing, yet), but for now at least i can use it for what i planned to do ... 1 step at a time :) Thanks a lot!
