Copy & Paste stopped working - Sonar Platinum
I just updated to SONAR 2016.09 yesterday after a full day of editing without issue. After the update copy and paste was working then stopped. I contacted Cakewalk and they send me directions on how to copy and paste, please.. I am running Window 10 with Anniversary update I always use CTRL+C and CTRL+V but in the following video I show that paste is disabled in the menu after the copy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2GqV8xSqnI

This might be a case of I call "an Infected Sonar project". Copy and pasting might work properly in one project and then completely wrong in another. Odd
Windows 10/64, Intel i7 Xeon X6575 3,07GHz, 24Gb RAM, chipset: Intel X58 Express, Kingston SSD 240Gb, Sonar Platinum ∞, Edirol UA-25. ( Some extra VSTs: PSP almost all/ IK - AT4, ST3, / AAS - all/ TH3 full/ +10dB/ Melodyne Editor). EVE sc205 monitors, Defil Kosmos guitar, blue lava lamp, ashtray. And there is some great music you may find at: https://soundcloud.com/pawel-jan-1

Ctrl+Alt+V is sometimes needed. So often Ctrl+V DOES work, just on the wrong track so you never see the paste where you thought it should be.

Corrupted projects are fairly common. Does it happen in every project or just this one?

There are several selection bugs. You can select something in the PRV window and, if you look carefully in the Track View, you have in fact selected things from other tracks. (This one is easily duplicated: select a track in track view; change to PRV for a group of other tracks, not the same as selected in TV; select using the time line at the top of the PRV. You think you're getting only PRV events, but no, you're getting events from the first track selected in Track view too). Constant vigilance is needed: check and double check what Tracks are selected, and check and double check the selection time range. Then, even when you are certain that the selection is correct, there's also the paste bug after a period of heavy editing: it basically stops working. Best solution is use 'bounce to clips' for any midi data, save and close, and re-open. If you ignore the symptoms, a crash is in your future.

williamcopper This one is easily duplicated: select a track in track view; change to PRV for a group of other tracks, not the same as selected in TV; select using the time line at the top of the PRV. You think you're getting only PRV events... Actually, I wouldn't think that. Selecting in the Time Line, whether it's TV or PRV, selects a region (i.e., a time range). Whatever is selected within that range remains selected. That's the difference between selecting a region and selecting, say, a clip or track. Clicking within the PRV grid, which is local as opposed to the global timeline, lets SONAR know you want to do something that affects only what's in the PRV. (Once you click within the PRV, SONAR de-selects tracks selected previously in the TV.) Of course all of this is influenced by how you picked tracks in the PRV (e.g., if you chose to Pick Tracks and ctrl-clicked to select multiple tracks). Constant vigilance is needed Understanding how SONAR does selection also works in a pinch. Then, even when you are certain that the selection is correct, there's also the paste bug after a period of heavy editing: it basically stops working. Best solution is use 'bounce to clips' for any midi data, save and close, and re-open. If you ignore the symptoms, a crash is in your future. It sounds like you've described the symptoms of running out of RAM. All that undo history has to be stored somewhere.

Rayman I always use CTRL+C and CTRL+V but in the following video I show that paste is disabled in the menu after the copy.
I saw the video, and tried to duplicate but both paste and paste special were always available when cutting and pasting within staff view. Was this a one-off thing or permanent?

No it was permanent. Soon as I rolled back to 2016.8 everything was fine. Been using Sonar for over 10 years never had this problem once before. Short cut keys are usually tied to menu options so if the menu option is disabled so is the short cut. Paste special did work but who the hell can remember that key combination :)
