What should I be dling?

I have just downloaded Sonar and Sonar Core Samples etc. It took very little data. In the past Sonar and instruments needed GB of data. Do I need to look elsewhere to get the proper sample package? How has this all changed?

Thanks for any help

What are you trying to install?
Are you using the Command Center or directly downloading files from your store account?
Do you have a previous version of SONAR installed?

You may read about the install process here http://www.cakewalk.com/D...p=Introduction.29.html

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I am trying to install X3 and its ancillaries.

I was downloadinbg from my account. I haven;t been here for a while and I don't know the command centre.

Yeah I upgraded to X3. Basically I was used to the system before where I couls see what I had downloaded, and what was still to be downloaded.

    Ah. A further question.

I just ran the Platinum setup and it talks of installing components. Will it go online and download stuff as required.

I would just go ahead and give it a kick and see what falls out, but I am on a olimited data budget, with only wireless Internet available, so I have to be careful. Unfortunately my data mo nth ran out last night with 5GB to go :(

It is still not clear exactly what you are trying to do. Are you trying to install SONAR X3 (if so which one), SONAR Platinum or both? All versions of SONAR may be installed from the store account. Installing from the store account has changed very little. Cakewalk also has a new installer called Command Center which can install Platinum. The Command Center makes installation, activation and update easier.

There is a difference between the way X3 and Platinum installers are organized. X3 uses larger installers split into several parts. Platinum uses smaller installers but has more of them.

Oh god I don't know! I thought platinum was just the top level  of any X series. OK I am trying to install Platinum, which I purchased a while back all of its connected synths and FX.

HAH! When you say the store has not changed much, you don't know howlong I have been out of the loop.

I will try the command centre

The X series is no more.

The Command Center is the easiest way to install. If you want complete control over the install, make sure to click the gear in the upper right of the Command Center UI. This opens the setup screen. Enable "Verbose Install" to see all the installer options. The paths tab has options to relocate plug-ins and installers. The Command Center keeps all installers locally. You may delete them if you wish but given your limited bandwidth it might be a good idea to save them. You do not have to keep the installers online but should you ever need to reinstall or rollback to a previous version, the Command Center will use the local installer if one is found in the folder.

Assuming you do not have a previous version of SONAR installed and want to install everything in the Platinum Folder (a total of 20 installers), Dimension Pro, Rapture, Rapture Session (after Dimension Pro and Rapture), the Theme Editor (if you want to create your own custom theme) Melodyne and Addictive Drums. Note: the Addictive Drums install from Cakewalk is just a product key. Follow these instructions to install Addictive Drums from the XLN website.

Hi and thanks. I am back in the game because my data time is nearly out and I have a few gig available.

Does the Command Centre (which I have now installed and yeah it's easy to use) check my PC for versions and ask me to update as needed, or does it just make available everything I have to download? If it's the former then I have a while to wait before I download everything. I guess I will have to prioritise if that is the case..

    Thanks again for any help.

There are indicators to the left of each installer
    Red - not installed
    Yellow - update available
    Green - current

Starting the Command Center, subject to the "Update Interval" on the settings page, refreshes the indicators. Click the gear in the upper right of the Command Center UI to access the settings page to change the Update Interval or force an immediate check.

There are updates monthly and occasional hot fixes after an update. Updates are cumulative. There is no need to update every month.

Most updates are to the SONAR Platinum and Local Documentation installers only.

I forgot to mention every update has an ezine pdf containing information about the update. Updates info is here http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Rolling-Updates#start, the knowledge base and the new features section in the help.

The Command Center does not keep track of old installs. It only tracks the software installed by the Command Center. That said, as I mentioned above, if you have DPro v1.5 and Rapture v1.22 installed do not bother installing them from the Command Center. Nothing has changed for those two plug-ins.

OK. I will check out my versions.

We are having an ersatz NBN (fibre optic broadband ) rolled out and _still_ we will only have wireless with seriously poor data allowances. :( So I will have "super fast" speed and no data allowance. We pay $55 for 10GB. $55 will buy you 500-1000GB landline.

    Sorry. Just bhitching.

You have been most supportive. Back then, I was an active person here. Maybe I can get back into it.
