Automation Controls Question

Hey Everyone,

This may be a bit of a dumb question, but I recently got into doing automation controls which is something I've somewhat ignored for a long time. My question is, is there any easy way to tell exactly what control in a softsynth is being referenced in the names of the available automation lane options?

For example if when selecting what an automation lane is going to control, if I go the instance of Omnisphere on that track, and then there's like 100 different controls I can choose for it to be affecting... Yea I see Filter2 Cutoff is one of them... But what if I'm not sure where that is within the soft synth? or viceversa, what if I'm looking at the control in the softsynth and want to find it in that big list of controls I can choose... some are fairly obvious, but sometimes it can be tricky to figure out which is which. Without going to the synth's manual and figuring out the labels for each individual knob that may be abbreviated in the GUI making it even harder, is there an easier way to figure it out?

Thanks! And sorry if this should have been more in the Software forum, I thought it would be more appropriate in the main Sonar forum.

Sometimes it is easier to enable Write automation and move the control in the plug-in UI to set it up for automation.

I just like drawing it in, it's much easier for me than using my mouse to turn knobs and stuff.

I do too but it is still often easier to setup a control for automation by wiggling the control in the UI which will initialize the envelope. No need to figure out what the control is called. When I do use the drop down list, I often pick the first value from the drop down, then use the reassign option to see the list of values.
