    Nice string piece David.

I'm not saying this because it's a fixed rule as such, but I'd have panned dominant pluck string section to centre and then placed the bowed strings to either side. That's just me though...

    cheers

Thanks Sink!  I try to picture the instruments on stage, in this case a string ensemble.  What's the logic behind plucked strings in center though?  Are there certain frequencies that are being masked?

No, no, David, and you are right in as much that, if you went to see this performed by two people then, yes, one would be to the left and one to the right.

I guess I'm just thinking how I would approach this, and I am far from expert... I'm pretty awful at dealing with minimal tracks like this and I end up leaving both in centre and somehow imparting some stereo with by using effects.

I also tend to think of the lead piece should take centre stage, but, again, that's just me

It's still a nice piece of work and I really liked it...

    cheers

Do you intend to develop it David? sounds like it would work as is or the basis for something else.

Very interesting, in a different world to what I do so hard to be specific but all I can say is that I enjoyed it very much.

    Thanks for sharing.

Thx marshall.  Music is so subjective.  It all hits our senses the same way...but from there it becomes a different animal.

i like how this is so open.....
but it invites a vocal in my head.....
some simple melody that flows over this, and connects the instruments together

you could even use a synthetic sound in place of the vocal,
if you could write the proper melody that works in a sustained fashion,
would be interesting to me to hear it that way

    not a solo instrument...
but rather just a super simple series of notes

This was a really nice piece on its own, but It could easily be part of a bigger composition.

Thanks john and noizy nae bor.  I've always liked Francis Poulenc and other frenchies for being concise with their thoughts.  Sometimes the others can be a little long winded.  I'm not as fond of debussy for some odd reason.
