Loop Section One Time Play

In other products or even on recording hardware I have seen the feature to play a defined section only one time. It is similar to the loop function, but it plays the selected section only once, stops and then sets the now time back to the section's start position. This is especially useful, if you are editing a very short section or checking a single transient setting that is difficult to define. If you use the loop function for such a short piece, it is very difficult to grap the contents as it goes to fast. But with such a one-time play feature you can start play, listen and get it. And after the stop you can play it again, until you really find out how that position must be.

I am missing this feature really, that's why I use other software outside of  Sonar to do that now.
What do you think, wouldn't it be a useful feature? How do you listen to very short sections for decisions on say timing issues and so on?

Let's take it another step: Have a drop down list on the loop button that allows you to select the number of repeats.

Wait!  Maybe a section could be looped a specific number of times during song playback!  I know that would involve significantly more development work, but I could see it being a lot easier than duplicating clips to dragging out looped clips.

    Ricoskyl,
Would that apply to bounce downs as well?
You could input you settings and when you bounce down, it would repeat however many times you set it?

I could be wrong by I feel like this would cause glitches.

EDIT: ...as in audio glitches. I get them all the time when looping parts. I assume it is because there is no cross-fade.

Did you know there's a preference where you can set a default crossfade so it happens automatically?  Preferences > Customization > Editing > Clips.  It provides up to 25ms of crossfade which should be enough to cut out most pops where loops transition.

I'm aware. The problem is, if you loop in the middle of a clip there is no cross-fade.
