James, Very well balanced mix, don't have a reference to hear what is was like before the Neutron remix but it sounds really good. Did you take all the Neutron defaults or tweak their suggestions? Cool song. Regards

compared to the original seems clearer and vocal and brass parts have more pop, but there's maybe a tad less low end to the mix so the bass is less in your face

sounds great James - what are your initial impressions of Neutron? Are they going to make us (sound guys) redundant?

Thanks guys. Been playing with Neutron the past day and there is a lot to like. I took Whack's last song and ran it with Neutron and it really opened up some stuff. His voice has always been tough to mix since he has these spurious frequency eruptions on certain changes in his vocal approach that blow out the mix. Neutron did a Track Assist on him and it s honestly the best I have ever heard (which is nuts considering the amount of eq'ing I have done on him). But make us redundant? Not yet. Maybe if you have perfectly recorded tracks with excellent tone, but that is surely not the case for most recordings. As for the other stuff: since it is replacing Alloy 2, I really don't have a solid frame of reference since I never bought that plugin. The Neutrino shaping gizmo does nice smoothing, and the compressors work well. The masking identifier is great. However, the Learn mode is hit or miss. So you still have to use your ears. The CPU hit, if you are running more than five instances, is dramatic, and sometimes causes stuttering and lost tracks (bass may be audible on playback, or it may not be). I have a brand new beast computer so you can imagine the strain! That being said, it is the first version so I am sure updates will correct this stuff. And MGH: Neutron isn't on the mix buss, so I am afraid that is just my lousy ears again!

Went to your home page and found the original mix, my bad....:( anyway quite a dramatic difference in clarity and general quality. As MGH said, might have cut a hair too much bass but really pretty amazing results. Think the kick is ok, maybe just add a dB or so to the bass guitar.

Hi, James, Great to see you back around on the forum! This is a very cool sounding dance rocker with lots of interesting elements and a fresh sounding, crystal clear mix with some nice punch to it! The vocals are cool, I love the "bouncing" bass, and the synths and horns sound great. I'm glad your liking Neutron, they emailed me a demo video a month or two ago and it looked pretty impressive, good to hear that you think it's useful and seems to work well. I might have to check into it further and possibly give it a shot. Nice work, James, your stuff always sounds killer! Bob

I might have liked a bit more low end but that is personal taste. It is really a nice mix. James, is this an original? Good to hear you!

Didn't hear the original mix, but this sounds awesome. 1/2 the mix is in the arrangement, and this song has awesome arrangement. Love it!

Ha! Very cool, P-Funk meets The Living Dead! Excellent mix, I'm hearing everything I need to, I think. Really like the song, horns are great, really nice rhythm to the vocal, fits the track perfectly. Great job!

Sorry, here's the original https://soundcloud.com/ha...mbies-want-to-get-down
Thanks James, well to my furry ears they both sound like good mixes, which is something that I would expect from you. The remix with the iZotope Neutron plug sounds a little louder to my ears and possibly a little denser. Personally I think I prefer the original as I can always turn things up if I want louder. With the second mix I am not hearing the lyric so well and the bass feels pushed.

James, I'm late to this party, but I'm glad I made it. Terrific song and production, I'll have to check Neutron out. I wish I had your horn arranging skills because I'm planning on writing a horn based song. Great to hear your stuff.
