You have to see this midi Keyboard
This keyboard is called Nektar Panorama P6 61-key MIDI Controller, they make a P6 49 - Key version as well. Nektar Panorama P4 49-key Midi Controller Video This Keyboard uses Bitwig which is the software integration with various Daws. Originally it wasn't integrated with Sonar, however, there was an update to Bitwig that allows you to download the Sonar integration for this keyboard. Check out the video showing the integration with a another DAW. Here is the lighter version of a keyboard from the same company which has the integrated Sonar btwig software. Nektar Impact LX49+ and LX61+ Midi Keyboard Controllers $159.00 and $199.00 respectively.

Isn't Bitwig a DAW itself? I don't get it.

You are correct, Bitwig is a daw similar to Ableton, indeed started by folks who left ableton... Panorama ships with bitwig and is deeply integrated via software... Nektar has continued to add new DAWS to it's integration but I was unaware they'd gotten around to Sonar. The impact keyboards have software for several DAWs, including Sonar. I have one and it works well...

Another for the list of possibilities ... Kontrol, Advance, Panorama ... Dana - What is your overall experience like with the Impact? Feel, DAW control w/SONAR, VSTi control, etc.

I have the P6, and can say the following: 1) nice keybed, a pleasure to play 2) controls feel solid in use 3) pads have decent velocity sensitivity 4) comes with a Bitwig 8-track license 5) installing the Bitwig drivers boogers it up for SONAR (hard reset required) 6) integration with SONAR is weak (Alexey's AZSlow support REALLY helpful) 7) no Windows driver updates in quite awhile So, it seems to me that they get new product drivers working well enough to film those videos, and then go off and do something else, like in my case, moving from the new Panoramas to the new Impacts. I think the P4 and P6 have seen all the love they're going to get. Love the keyboard. Disappointed with the supported level of integration. Really disappointed that installing Bitwig blew up Reaper and SONAR. Installing Reaper blew up SONAR (which uses only their proprietary communications driver only; NO SONAR-specific integration). And, yup, hard reset required. Now I need to save the money for an NI S88.

Hello Maartian, Do you suggest using the P6 without Bitwig and just enjoying it as a plain Midi keyboard Actually , I have a Mackie control Universal, however, I like the keyboard itself, so having it and not using the Bitwig isn't a big deal, is it? What do you think about the Impact LX61+ I know the keys are not weighted like the Panarama but the price point can't be beat for having drum pads and the midi keyboard. Thanks for sharing you experience with Nektar

No need to use Bitwig. I was unaware that it came with the P6 when I bought it. It's currently uninstalled, as is Studio One. Perhaps the Impacts are class-compliant or don't need the proprietary driver that the P6 does. If you're looking for a really usable control surface for SONAR, I'd pass on the P4/P6 at the moment. I would be interested in feedback from a new v2 Impact LX owner. Me? I think I'm going to split the functions. SONAR's new integration with Softube's Console 1 looks really interesting. I can see using a Console 1 with an NI S88 keyboard, reserving the controls on the NI for the automapping you get with various plugins, and using the Console 1 as a...console! Ha. EDIT: I'll add that I was not too happy with the Studio One driver pack either. Too many of the controls, especially bank switching and transport, just didn't work. That also required a hard reset and a reinstall of the basic proprietary driver (now v1.2.3.5).

Reaper blew up SONAR?! I've had them happily side x side for a long time. Also Cubase AI & Tracktion.

TheMaartian, Thanks. I am really interested in a MIdi keyboard that works with Windows 10 Anniversary update. My Trigger Finger and Radium 49 stopped working in Sonar Platinum after receiving the anniversary update. I am now focused on a more newer keyboard that will survive several Windows OS changes for the future. I think I may go with the Impact 49+ as it will replace my Trigger Finger and M-Audio Radium keyboard that I sold to a Windows 8.1 user. two days ago. Ordering the Impact LX49+ at the great price of $159.99 today. Much less than the M-Audio Code49 or CTRL49 which are doubled the price. Thanks,

Nektar's custom Reaper drivers screwed up the default P6 driver's integration with SONAR (like faders and encoders doing weird stuff). I had to hard reset the P6 and reinstall the v1.2.3.5 drivers. I've had SONAR, Reaper, Bitwig and Studio One installed at the same time with no problems (other than those inherent in a given DAW).

TheMaartian So, it seems to me that they get new product drivers working well enough to film those videos, and then go off and do something else, like in my case, moving from the new Panoramas to the new Impacts.
Seems like this is a problem for all of the various companies making these products. To bad they don't get together more. Like there aren't a TON of options really. It would be nice if the DAW companies worked a little more closely with the hardware companies to make these products actually integrate and work. It's pretty bull that you have to be a computer programmer to make a midi keyboard function as it should out of the box.

lx88 review on youtube by wallid... an orchestrator... he does a great job discussing this keyboard. Well worth a looksee The lx series has better integration with sonar than other keyboards... the relevant part of the manual is here. Panorama does NOT have this integration I think the lx series is a fantastic buy...
