My #1 cause of audio problems

...is forgetting to turn on my monitors. I do it every freaking time and only realize after I've frantically checked all of my routing and interface settings etc.

I've got everything plugged into a power conditioner. One flip of the switch turns everything on.(except the computer of course)

I have everything plugged into a power conditioner as well. Even so, I like to turn my monitors on separately because I don't like the hear the clicks when my interface initiates during boot up.

This happened to me today and I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out why I wasn't getting sound. I didn't notice the two big bright lights on my monitors were off.

There seems to be certain things that I just cannot learn now matter how many times they sting me. For example every time it rains I walk down 5 flights of stairs only to realize that I didn't pick up my umbrella. Even though I thought "don't forget your umbrella" literally 2 minutes before leaving.

Although you will find contention to this statement in quite a few places, I was taught during my PhD work that the subconscious mind doesn't process negatives.  This is why hypnotic suggestions and affirmations should always be couched in the positive (MADD has now adopted "Drive Sober" as their motto instead of "Don't Drive and Drive" for this very reason).

Basically, you've actually been programming your subconscious mind to forget your umbrella - and you do!  Try this simple re-framing instead:  "Remember to take my umbrella" that's the positive version for what you're trying to accomplish.

but dont be stingy, get one which indicates the mute state with a LED otherwise you have the same problem of not knowing why there is no sound ;-)

All of my stuff stays on 24-7.  I get zero pops clicks or other oddball noises even when I reboot.  Last use is usually around 10:00, first use between 6-6:30 with backup jobs that run every night.  I don't see the point.  For me.

I didn't read all of the posts, because I assumed that the unanimous decision was that the #1 cause of audio problems is me.

At least, that's what my monitors keep telling me.

Have they proved this?  deconstruction is both positive and negative at the same time.  Is that why nobody understands it?  (J/k)  I was always taught  that the unconscious IS that w(h)i(t)ch is UNsaid.  So is that a positive negative?  The unconscious is LIKE a language.

You'd think LED's would solve my "no audio" problem right? Unfortunately not - my monitors have exceedingly bright blue lights on the front and yet I still don't miss them.
