Maschine Studio in Sonar Platinum

I have searched forums here and on NI as well as YouTube and Googled every possible combination of search words, phrases and combinations to no avail.  Not to mention the associated manuals and knowledge bases and FAQs.  I need to record Maschine Studio into Sonar Platinum and I can't make that happen.  I get levels, and hear input, but nothing gets recorded.  In my searches, I've become aware that the Maschine/Sonar relationship has been a rocky one.  Has anything changed that I could not find, or maybe was right under my nose all the time?  The latest articles I can find here are a year or so old.  I do have emails out to NI and Cake supports. I have also had remote tech service from the place I bought Maschine.  They couldn't fix, and said I should just "mess around with it some more", as it was an operational issue within Sonar. (major big box music store I shan't name) Any help would be REALLY appreciated.  Thanks all-
