    I have one port on my machine.  Darn near bus speed.   I chose a mobo in my latest build that had many USB2/USB3 ports, a USB-C Thunderbolt 3, along with Ethernet that supports AVB-TNS.  I am using the USB-C port with a USB-C to thunderbolt converter on a MOTU 1248...  Dont have a USB-C audio device to tell you much about how it works, but that thunderbolt speed is sweet for what I use it for.

    Even though USB-C has a reversible connector, Murphy's Law states thing can and will go wrong.

    But you took a huge risk using that adaptor as I have read a few times now. Read the link Jim posted and see why. You could have fried your interface. 
    What a pain in the butt. Yet another connection fiasco. I hope they settle this soon.. I now have 4 different charger cables.  
    We have our Printer type A to type B 
    Then we have the original Cell phones and E book reader, my Tascam DR 40 type A mini 
    New Cell phones and book readers use the type A Micro 
    Then my Apple phone a Lightning and the old Apple connector for the iPad.

    Just to be clear, USB-C defines a connection and cable, not a communication protocol. So what you plug the cable into has to be providing the connection speed. USB-C is compatible with USB 3.1, so it can provide a very fast connection if your port is using a superspeed protocol. Otherwise it is just a cable with a different connector.
