SONAR Professional crashing a lot lately
I've been getting a lot of crashes in the last couple of weeks, Windows will throw up a "SONARPRO.EXE has stopped working" message and I lose any work I hadn't saved. I noticed there was a Windows 10 update a couple weeks ago so I wonder if there is a link there. I've always had some stability issues with SONAR, especially after I upgraded to Windows 10 earlier this year, but it's off and on, there will be several weeks of occasional crashes, and then nothing for a long time. Has anyone else had similar issues? Thanks!

running strong here. possibly a plug in causing the crashes ? try opening a project in safe mode with all plug ins disabled. if you don't crash, you can at least rule out a plug in problem. id say 30% of the time a crash has to do with a plug in. another 30% on audio device/soundcard, 20% failing hardware10% device conflict, the other 10 misc.

Some folks had to reinstall drivers and/or reauthorize some software, following Windows updates - principally the Anniversary Update for Windows 10. Bob Bone

I think it is normal for SPLAT to crash ... on infrequent occasion. Frequent crashes (daily?) that cannot be traced to some 3rd party crap plug-in, means you may have some sort of Windows system problem, OR something is running outside of Sonar deciding suddenly it needs to do something or other causing a crash. I have Kasperky and sometimes it just decides its going to do a rootkit scan. That (or similar) can cause a crash. I've had to pause KIS, or sometimes tell it to not even load on startup. If you go to Task Manager you will see there are all sorts of things running in the background. Sometimes you can identify the offender by looking for one that is using more cpu than another. Good luck!

Hi there AMD phenom 11x16 1055T Processor 2.80 GHz 12.0GB of RAM 64-bit OS,x64-based Processor DAW: Sonar Professional Midi Controler Maudio Axium 61 Audio interface: Motu Microbook I am having the same problem with constant crashing crashing! loading VST,s opening VST,s deleting VST,s trying to rewire to reason 9.5, crashing exporting to Mp3. Happen,t 14 times while working on one project last Night,,it was a long one! I send in some crash reports ,see if thy get back to me. Sonar Support was excellent last time I needed them with a another issue. Well, No fun at all and frustrating. Thankfully my data was recovered every time.Hopefully i can export it to Mp3 today without a crash. I resonantly locked my self out of my C: drive trying to change permissions.,,,,stupid as one can be sometimes,,,, So i ended up having to re install windows 10,,I am not happy with windows 10 !! it try,s to take over control of everything!I re installed my DAW.s Sonar Pro and Reason 9.5 and all VST,s and other stuff. 20 hours of work. Then Pro updated some days ago . Now i am having this crash problem. I shut down as many background processes and automatic windows,, gimmicks,, as possible ,made no difference. I am not a computer pro and still learning how to use my DAW,s. I am lost here ,what am I doing wrong? What can I make or do better? Hope someone has some tips or answers??!! Thanks, Ludwig
