Nice! There are some nests around here and I occasionally see a pair flying along the river. You can see one from the freeway crossing the Columbia on a protected area called Government Island. HUGE nest.

If what you heard was the sound you hear on TeeVee when eagles are flying around, then you prolly heard a Red-tailed Hawk. Very cool birds too.

An eagle would be unlikely this far south in Scotland. A few years ago red kites were reintroduced, and thrived. Problem now is that there are hardly any owls...sometimes it's best to leave well alone.
