Hardware requirement

I know this has been answered before, if someone could just point me to the right thread. Not even sure if this is the right category. I am fixing to purchase another laptop to run SPLAT on just for mixing some projects with a friend. Old laptops were lost in the flood.  What, in the forum community's opinion, are the minimum requirements needed for the laptop. Not minimum to operate the software but the minimum to operate the DAW efficiently with as few crashes as possible. What size/speed processor, how much RAM tec.
Thanks!

Hi. Others will know far more than me, but to get this thread started I would suggest an I7 quadcore of some sort, 16Gb RAM, preferably one SSD, and one HD (7200 RPM) for storage / samples.
Others will probably come along with better advice.
All the best.

These are the listed system requirements:
  • OS: Windows 7, 8/8.1 or 10 (32- or 64-bit)
  • Processor: 2.6GHz Intel or AMD multi-core processor (at least Intel i5 or AMD A10 APU recommended)
  • Memory: 4GB
  • Hard Drive: 5GB for minimal install (20GB recommended)
  • Monitor Resolution: 1280x800 (1920 x 1080 recommended)
  • Audio Interface: ASIO compatible hardware is recommended
  • Internet: Connection required for downloads, activation, and publishing features. SONAR Platinum, Professional and Artist are not available on physical installation media. Addictive Drums 2 is available with an Internet connection only.

Where you go from here is up to you really.

+1 to both previous posts. I actually have a laptop close to what Zargg suggests.
Be careful with the CPU since many I7's for laptops are dual-core. You have to look up the CPU model number (the -U ones are usually dual-core...used to be anyway).
Are you sure you want a laptop ? you can get a desktop for about the same price which gives more bang/buck, is upgradable, and is repairable. If you are not doing a mobile studio thing, I would go desktop.

I'm carrying back and forth so I need the portability, I understand the listed requirements but I'm afraid that is hardly adequate, from my experience anyway, my laptops in the past have met the listed requirements but have been  barely functional. I know there are companies that build laptops just for DAW performance. That may be what I need if anyone has a suggestion for a builder. Concerning the SSD any recommendation as to size?
Thanks for the feedback!

Actually this should be moved to the Computer sub forum where this question is asked at least once a week. Look there for many good answers.
Laptops are tricky because of added bloatware and sometimes a BIOS that doesn't play well with Audio.
