TAB to transient, then select - how?

Hi,
Anyone know how to select a transient after you have TAB'ed to it? what I want is TAB to it, select it and then disable it with CTRL+ALT+D. When I simply TAB to it I can't disable it with the shortcut, I need to select it first..
