Thanks for sharing such sad news.  A musical genius.  His Mad Dog and Englishman band certainly put Joe Cocker on the map.

Along with Elton John my first real keyboard influence.  An eccentric personality but from the original "Wrecking Crew" to the end... a master of space and time.  I will miss him dearly.

Treat yourself and rewatch Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Leon is at the height of his powers as a bandleader, arranger (stride piano and horns on Cocker's classic cover of The Letter for starters), and as a performer (on lead guitar! Astonishing, considering his particular disability)

Curiously (to me at least) , some great Leon Russel song covers are by Karen Carpenter. I completely ignored her when she was around.

RIP Leon Russell. He was in on everything in the early 70's. And everyone did covers of his songs.

Had not heard about Mose Allison. Sob. I've got 9 of his albums, none of which I've played since forever. Time to fire them up.

Saw him about a year ago in a very small venue.
Great performer and very entertaining story teller.
