The Ongoing Saga of Platinum 2016.10 and EZDrummer 2 -- CRASH
EZDrummer 2 is causing a 100% reproducible crash every time it is deleted from the Synth Rack ("then don't delete it from the synth rack if you don't have to" ) I want to get to the bottom since this first appeared in the most recent update. Today I noticed that after deleting the EZD Folder from the Track View (and its accompanying track), the EZDrummer GUI had a box in the lower right that says Sonar's Audio Engine is inactive, when the engine is not (and the Engine button is lit). But no sound, and it will not play patterns. If a new instance of EZD is loaded, nothing better. I've submitted a problem report about a week-10 days ago and it says it hasn't been reviewed yet. I know they're busy, but if anyone has any ideas that would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

I'm gonna just throw stuff out there ... Have you done a VST [Reset] and [Scan] already? Reinstalled EZD2?

Seems OK here. SPlat 2016.10 EZD 2.1.1 (build 10513) 64-bit VST Standard sound libs, Modern version 1.0.2 Vintage version 1.0.2 I start SPLat (25 seconds! - Jamaica Plain (parallel install) starts in only 7 secs) I start an empty BASIC project, in Instruments/Drums I doubleclick on EZDrummer and say OK on the options dialog EZD appears and is also there in the synthrack. I click on the red 'X' in the synthrack and say OK in the confirmation dialog. The EZD window disappears almost immediately and the synth rack entry follows 3 seconds later. No crash. Tried it several times now. Repeat with folder option, Delete folder, No change in EZD, no message appears lower right.

I have just tried with a new project and do not see a problem. Is your version of EZDrummer 2 the latest version?

Hi. I am not able to reproduce either, using latest SONAR Plat and EZD2. Sorry to be of no help. All the best.

Yes, everything is up to date (and I've rescanned, etc.). This is 100% reproducible and suddenly appeared with 2016.10. Interestingly, I can sometimes just "x" (close) a project without a crash, or close Sonar and click "no" to save the project, without a crash. But clicking the red "x" in the Synth Rack doesn't work (the only Toontrack product that does this). Hopefully CW will review the problem reports and see what's wrong. Thanks to everyone for the help. Steve

Update: I confirmed that clicking the "A" (Archive) button on the EZ Drummer track folder results in a box appearing in the EZD interface saying the Audio Engine is not engaged (same issue if I delete the EZD folder). However, the Audio Engine is engaged and works, except for EZD. Same think if I load EZD as a simple instrument track without a folder. Then, if EZD is removed from the Synth Rack --> crash. Interestingly, the problem does not exist in X3 when a TRACK is used, but does if a folder is used. Very odd. My Problem Report from several weeks ago shows as NOT having been reviewed yet, which is disconcerting (and a tad disappointing). But hope springs eternal
