[ fixed] I need to unlink clips - Pilot error?

I've been working on a restoration project and run into something new. The original track is track 1 and is one giant clip. I've been selecting sections of track one and using copy and paste to move sections of it to track two, where I'm building the new track.
Now that I've done that I no longer need track one and want to delete it, but I can't.
If I delete track one, track two also vanishes.
I didn't do anything to link track one and two, simply highlight what I want, copy, paste. I can't find the answer in the help files but I must be doing something wrong.

im not sure John, how are you deleting ? deleting the clip or the track ?
If its the track, then just make sure you have focus on only track 2.
(highlight track 1's # and right click click, choose delete track.)

If its the clip that is being deleted, make sure your first clip is de selected
(CNTRL+SHIFT+A) then simply click on the top portion of the clip (the header) to highlight just that clip.
    then press Delete.

    Maybe the clips are grouped.

Right click on a clip and look for "Remove selected clips from groups".

Well, it turns out to be one of those random DAW problems. I went back to the project, clicked on delete track and it went away. I have no idea why it was also deleting the second track, and it looks like I never will.

    Thanks for the help.

oh ya, that's what I typically say too.. random act of strangeness .
That's my story..and that's what im sticking with.

Focus in Sonar has become a little bizarre of the past few versions that if you have track 1 selected, but click on track 2 to delete, it will delete both.
they changed it in X2 and I have never been totally happy with it.
