What is the file extension? If you can't see it, you need to tell Windows to display file extensions. If you have a wav file, it will play. Maybe you could post what version of SONAR you're using, and what version of Windows.

    SONAR Platinum 2017.10 • CbB  Win10 • i7/2600 • 16GB RAM • Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 • NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS

I get this every now and again, and can't figure out why, but to correct it, I have to actually physically type the file extension into the saved name when exporting. Odd, but I can live with it.

I started experiencing exactly this issue the other day - I wonder if a windows update has messed something up

I found that if I imported the WAV file back in to a blank sonar project, played it and then closed it - my other Windows programmes (e.g. Media player, quick time and that new Windows one I can't remember the name of) would now play the WAV and MP3 files

Have you accidentally exported it as a 32 bit wav instead of 16 bit?

I've done this before and its exactly what I was going to suggest looking for (good minds think a like ;-)

To the OP, sometimes you can get away with renaming the File EXT to .WAV. if its just a failed EXT problem.
you might need to change your folder options to "Show folder EXT".
