Using "Clip Gain" In Two Track "Mastering" Phase

Greetings, all

In my lifelong quest to make my mixes/faux mastered music sound "better", I am always seeking new methods to accomplish that. Which, includes watching a bunch of people mix and master projects online, and attempting to steal their techniques.  One recent method that I really think will help me learn a lot about limiting and getting that finished sound, was the ability to manually increase the amplitude of a waveform in a "softer" part of a song (working now with a stereo two track) to level out what I'm feeding to a mastering chain which will end with limiting. The examples I have seen have been with pro tools and other DAWs-  never Sonar.

Is there a way to do this?  It sure seems simple enough-  I'm looking at a stereo waveform, and I want to manually "draw in" a visual line that shows where I ramp up a couple of dB in the softer parts of the song. Now, I KNOW I can drag it out into my Soundforge and accomplish this, but that would possibly require me leaving the Sonar platform to do so, and potentially several times.  Who has time for that?

I recently switched to Sonar Platinum with a huge leap up from Sonar 7 Pro. Maybe I just haven't found it yet, but if anyone understands what I'm babbling about?  I'd sure love a li'l help if you have some.

Have a magnificent weekend all!
Scott

Sounds like a job for Clip Gain Automation, which you can select with the Edit filter.
