Graphics Issues
Hi folks, Does anyone have an idea why I am having this problem? Everything on my screens (dual monitors) in my Sonar sessions seems to have an absurdly slow refresh rate or something. When I scroll up, down or sideways it seems to move frame by frame in a VERY slow, jerky manner. I even checked to see if the pause/break key had been accidentally pushed (old Sonar trick to conserve resources). It seems to be getting worse. I have checked the status on the GPU (NVidia GEForce GT 630) and it's working properly and the drivers are up to date. I don't have graphics issues with anything else. Video streams and plays fine, display for graphics work is fine as well. It just happens in Sonar. I'm supposed to start mixing an album today but it's way to distracting to use Sonar at the moment. Any ideas would be incredibly appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!!

If your MOBO has a built graphics port, try plugging into it temporarily, just to rule in/out problems with the Nvidia

The AMD FX series processors do not have integrated graphics, it requires a discrete GPU, as compared to the APU series, which have integrated graphics. But looking at these system specs, there should not be any issues displaying Sonar graphics. Since the graphics work OK with Windows, there must be a conflict somewhere when Sonar runs. If you are running real-time antivirus, have you tried disabling real-time protection? Have you tried disabling or unplugging any unused USB hardware? Disabled your network or wi-fi interface? Maybe an audio driver or bus is conflicting with the graphics driver or bus? Have you tried launching Sonar with just one of your audio interfaces connected?

Hi guys, I've tried all of the suggestions you've mentioned and still the problem persists. I do think I have a conflict somewhere. I am having a heck of a time finding it.

Do you other non-Sonar programs operate like normal? If so, I'd guess that you accidentally pressed your "Pause/Break" key on your QWERTY keyboard (or maybe it was scroll lock). There is an intentional option added to Sonar to restrict graphics processing and free up CPU load. Edit: DUH!!! Nevermind, you listed the pause/break thing in your OP. Maybe it got assigned to a keybinding or something? Do you use any macros that would enable such a setting? I used to this a lot in my GUI builds back in my banking days.

Take a look at task manager or resource monitor the next time this happens, see if anything jumps out with high usage. Also try running LatencyMon. Start the scan before you launch Sonar and see if if remains green. Then try launching a project in Sonar and scroll around a bit. Stop Sonar and look at the report in LatencyMon. See if it points to an offending driver or something. http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon One thing I have noticed when running LatencyMon on my system, if I leave my USB Wi-Fi adapter enabled, things jump into the red quickly when I launch Sonar. It seems that is because USBPORT.SYS gets very active. I noticed tcpip.sys also running hard. If I disable the Wi-Fi adapter first, everything runs squeaky clean.

Hi abacab, Everything appears normal in Latency Mon with or without Sonar running. Everything is in the green.

Hmmm... that's a really strange problem. When did your system last work correctly? Have you changed or updated anything since it worked last? Did you consider it may be a plugin or the project you are working with? Does Sonar do this with a new project?

Running any effects? Could try the "E" key to disable all effects. I have a corrupted project which works fine with when effects are disabled using the "E" key but screws up even if I disable all known effects including Pro Channel. No idea why.
