Faderport 8

Just curious if anyone has had any experience with the new Faderport 8 in Sonar? Given some of the past "workarounds" in getting the original faderport to work in Sonar.. just curious if it's worth the effort in Sonar? Since my Faderport finally died (seems like it did.. no longer registers in Windows at all.. lights up only occasionally).. and my Alphatrack ALSO has lost it's display today.. I'm looking at a replacement. The Console 1 also looks tempting as well... and would integrate better with Sonar but no "transport."

Thanks

I have the original faderport - it was finicky to install but worth the effort. I didn't know about the Faderport 8. Watching his thread with great interest:)

Original Faderport has dedicated Sonar plug-in. The only DAW with special support for Faderport 8 is Studio One. As you can see in the manual, all other, including Sonar, work with it throw "MCU".

Since Faderport has "insufficient" number of control to be complete MCU, the result can not be perfect even in the theory. In the same price range there is X-Touch, with all required controls.

Console 1 is own effects oriented, you can control the volume of the strip but that is almost all you can do. It is not Control Surface for Sonar in general.

So, if you need one strip controller, the Faderport (original) is almost the only way to go (they still sell it).
For 8 strips, look at X-Touch or original MCU Pro.
