Conflagration [dark ambient]

Where do I start?

Well, it's eighteen minutes long.

It's a drone, with a bit of a beat.

It was recorded in one take from the mono output from our new modular system, now code named Modular Time Machine 01 V1.1 (Time machine because when you get stuck into this thing, time stops within a five foot radius and when you manage to drag yourself away from that zone of influence many hours could have passed).

Because I do not have any effects in the case, I use reverb and delay on effects busses within Sonar.

EQ isn't going to be the best, but I did at least cut everything outside of 30Hz to 25kHz, so I'm hoping your speakers should be okay.

Let me know if you make it to the other side of the fire

cheers

andy

Well I listened to this whilst reading about the Korgasmatron dual filter for the Softube Modular, (is that geeky?) interesting stuff Andy I do wonder if some additional ear candy would not enhance it further, I mean it works as is but some more classic modular sounds would just add an edge.

    Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I've watched a video of the hardware version and it's a really nice module

Thanks for listening Wookiee. I was considering adding a few more layers but I wanted to keep this as just the one take, so everything you can here came from the single patch

A total different story for my next piece

when I first read this title, I thought it was an act that was illegal in some states but once I googled it, I relaxed and settled into a long listen. I'll say it again, you need a video producer or team up with a local film maker - really nice soundscape with enough to keep your interest and you have managed to build an atmosphere.

Thanks Daryl! Yeah, it's a great word to look up, but not as bad as you think once you know what it means haha!

On reflection, I think 18 minutes was a bit too long. Recording that, and longer is not a problem but in future I think I'll start using some liberal pruning

    cheers
