Hurt
Did a cover of the song Hurt by Trent Reznor from NiN..... (was inspired by a movie trailer [Logan] where Johnny Cash sings the tune. Haven't posted here in a long while. Always open for feed back. The tune: https://soundcloud.com/dammit-eugene/hurt Cheers, Jim

Nice cover! I think the low-mids on the piano might be a bit overpowering, but other than that, everything sounds really good. Regards, Dan

@dcumpian - "low-mids on the piano might be a bit overpowering" - thanks for pointing that out. One of those things (along with maybe a bit much reverb on the piano) that has sort of been annoying me, but I could not see the forest for the trees! I'll do a look and fix. :D
@blueice - thank you. Vocals....hmmmmm. Never really been happy with my voice. A little Melodyne up front (still, I can hear mistakes in there. Ah well.) signal chain for vocals: Scarlet 2i2, MXL 990 mic (I think) -> wav-> iZotope Nectar -> iZotope DDlay -> 2cAether reverb -> prochannel (maybe only the console emulator thingy!) Am still searching for the right vocals treatment for my voice. Some folks say I sound like Bowie. I dunno about that... but I am definitely an odd voice, I think.

I'm listening to it on one headphone at work, so i can't give any mix feedback. But this is a great version of a great song. Sounds very "manchester."

Very nice cover. Excellent vocal performance. Maybe vocals a tad hot compared with the instruments?

The sparse arrangement is just right. Very effective. Most millenials put too much stuff in the stew.

I've listened to the Johnny Cash version of this song so many times that I can't begin to tell you. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but by the end of the song I was rooting for you! Your voice is terrific, and the arrangement is very good. Kudos!

Sounds OK here though I agree about the piano sound, for me there is generally a little to much reverb but your mix your choice. Thanks for sharing.

I've been avoiding this because Cash's version is SO good..but I have to say, you've done a fine job here. I agree with Daryl, the vocals seems a tad out front, especially at the start. Love the piano sound. Lovely spacious sound. Mix gets a bit 'hot' by about 2:50.

Ha. Yes it does! :D :D :D I pulled in booming drums during the final chorus and a rhythm guitar (whole-note chords) at the very end.... and it got LOUD. Drama! Normally, I am very anti-cover. But doing this tune was a huge blast. I may go back in the tweak the piano (less verb), and also make it a bit more viable and complex.....but that requires self disciple and stuff..... I tend to be a bit short of that lately! ha. Thanks for the feedback!

Very nice indeed!! I agree with the comments above about the piano but you have done an excellent job on this number.
