[SOLVED] How to undo console changes?

Using console, sometimes we can make unintentional changes, like an accidental change with mouse on volume, pan, etc.
I would like to know if is there how to undo these changes?
Because they are not currently registered in the Sonar's change history...

Right click the control and choose "revert to..."

The limitation with this is that no control retains a "history" of moves so this functionality is mothing like an Undo feature.

Also, check out the Mix Recall module. Save the current scene frequently and reload it if something goes awry.

The "Revert to" usually works for me.
This topic comes up from time to time.
I wish there was a setting to disable the mouse wheel from changing volume and pan in console view.
I only want the mouse wheel to scroll the screen in console view.

Interesting ... this can be done with some script using Autohotkey.

Try this Autohotkey script:

SetTitleMatchMode RegEx
#IfWinActive, ahk_exe i)SONAR.*exe
WheelDown::
 ControlGetFocus, x, A
 If InStr(x, "CMixerInspectorView")
  Return
 Send {WheelDown}
Return

WheelUp::
 ControlGetFocus, x, A
 If InStr(x, "CMixerInspectorView")
  Return
 Send {WheelUp}
Return

you can also use the "Set snap" option on each track.
Once you are in a spot where you like the fader for example, Right click it and choose Set Snap value.
now if you move it by accident, all you need to do is double click the fader and its new snap position will be what you have set it at (Instead of being 0db or Unity like it was previously. that's the default)

This is one of my favorite features, particularly because you can have independent snap-tos depending on whether you're using the Console view, Track view, or Inspector. As soon as I have a reference mix where I want it, I save a snap to = current for all faders.

These days, as soon as I open a project I also save a Mix Recall scene. They take up little space and you never know when you might want to get back to square 1.

Love that one Craig. Nice habit of new mix scene on open. To tell the truth I never remember the state of all my scenes unless I'm actively using them. I'm going to try the set snap to for all... this is another feature I once knew about and just forgot. I think largely because I often start creating automation envelopes after which snap doesn't matter so much.

On the RME it snaps to zero if at minus inf and vice versa. I always liked that toggle.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

True. The main use for me is when doing the "mix as you go along" approach, which is basically a "living" reference mix. When all the tracks are cut, it's time to do the mix, and automation enters the picture, then snap-to becomes far less useful.

Can you quick group "Set Snap" ?
As in select all tracks, hold CNTRL, right click and choose Snap to.
Will that do them all at once or do you need to do each one individually ?

To be honest I never tried this. this would be a huge time saver.

Since you brought up Set Snap, I've always wondered why Sonar's MIDI track fader volume default snap is 101 instead of 100 while MIDI note velocity default is 100. That's always bugged me.

Is the default setting hardwired in Sonar or is there a way to change Sonar's default level globally so that all new projects reflect it without manually changing it or creating a template which behaves after the fact???

I could be wrong here, but I believe midi velocity rates and midi track fader are unrelated.
Velocity is the point at which the instruments tonality changes IE- the dynamics (soft/strong)
The Midi track fader is to adjust the over all output (the volume if you will) of the said midi track itself.

I get that. I just don't get how they chose an odd # (101) to be default.

BTW, "MIDI" has no volume. It's simply data. ;-)

Snap-to is not quick-groupable. You have to do each one individually.

However, there's a simple solution. Use Mix Recall to save a scene, but check only the "Controls" box under Mix Recall Settings. That should do what you want.
