How to copy CCC downloads to new machine?
I inherited an HP 1212c from my Father in Law. I had it up and running with W7 but this new WASAPI thing and whatnot, has finally convinced me that W10 is what is best for our main DAW machines. I put a new SSD drive and downloaded the ISO W10 and got it activated for free using Chat and the dead HD story. :) So today is software installation day and I was thinking I must be able to grab the CCC downloads somehow to aviod re downloading them. I have everything upto date on both my Laptop and what I will now call my old DAW. Not worried about my data as I will simply move that drive to the new machine. What I'm asking for is what are the folders I can copy over. My thinking is I copy all Cakewalk Folders from C drive and run CCC and let it sort things out.

Look in your OS drive under Program Data/Cakewalk/Command Center/Downloads

So funny, I just copied just about every folder I could find but missed that one,, thanks, I see this is possibly the only folder I need to copy and then run CCC. I'll clean it out first as it contains a lot of old redundant files. Is there any benefit of installing 8.5 first? Is it V Vocal that is the only item not included with SPLAT? My old DAW has 8.5, X3 studio , Professional (July 2014) and Splat. I'm thinking I'll only install Splat and live without what ever was from the past.

You're welcome. I copy those files from my desktop to my laptop when there is an update so I don't have to download twice. I haven't used V-Vocal since I upgraded to Sonar Platinum because it includes Melodyne.

I *think* 8.5 was also the last version to come with Pantheon.

Make SURE that on the new computer that you launch CCC and go into the settings (click the toothy gear), then click on Paths, and then set the downloads to go to the folder where you copied over all of your old CCC content. Also, make sure you change the path for Content, so that neither path still points to your C: drive - otherwise you will start filling up your SSD C: drive. Bob Bone

Johnny if you're going to install 8.5, do it first, install all versions you want sequentially to prevent any problems

Good one Bob. Busy shovelling snow all morning so not much progress. I have just taken the external drive and it's copying everything into the new machine. I have a 240 GB CCC so for now I'll actually leave all sonar files there minus my project and audio files. I'll tidy up later. I don't use loops, if I find loops I delete them,, so my Sonar content is smaller than . The ccc folder was 17Gigs and I pared that down to 10 for now. Yes I defiantly need the Pantheon, thanks Bristol Aspen yes thanks for your input, I don't use V Vocal or Melodyn. I try and sing in key :)

You can't run earlier versions from the CCC, only SPLAT.

Right. got it. I better go dig out my 8.5 disks. I think I can do the bare bones and un check 90% of the install if I remember correctly. I won't bother with X3. Thanks once again.

Depends what you need from 8.5 You can install Pantheon without having to load the main program. If you need V-Vocal then you do need a minimal install so untick everything apart from the main prog & Pantheon

I installed 8.5 and unchecked everything except Pantheon, Session drummer 3 and Guitar rig 3. I wonder if I uninstall it, if it will also remove those features,,?? I might try this. Amazing how quickly installing everything went because all the downloads were already there locally. DimPro for some reason took it's time. Almost everything is installed now and the C drive is only at 65 GB. So lots of head room still.
