What is the full download size of Platinum?

Hi,

I want to upgrade from X3 Platinum to 2016.11 and would like to know the size of the download before buying.
In the past I had the disks since my internet monthly bandwidth it not very big.
It will likely be OK but I want to know for sure.

I asked support, but they told me to go my downloads page which is after having bought the program, so no help for me.

Cheers,
Dan

I just came from having a 3 GB limit per month.. I would have to go to a freinds house to download. or pay.
I now have xplornet and problem solved. Windows 10 on 3 computers killed us.
But to answer you question I just looked in the CCC download folder.
Sonar is only one file,,, there are many others needed
I just cleaned out my folder and it shows 17 GB.
But that is including Professional, Platinum and Home Studio.
The biggest files are the content and collections.
Sonar itself only shows 461,000 KB which seems low. I thought it was more like 3 GB.

Thanks for your reply, Johnny V.

I should be OK, but I'll have to wait until January to download.
My bandwidth is 20GB per month, but just regular browsing takes up a good chunk of that.
I will be going ahead with the upgrade, just the free future updates are worth it.

    Cheers,
    Dan

If you click on an item in the Command Center that has not been installed or requires an update, you can see the size. For example SONAR Platinum=481 MB, Z3TA+ 2=34 MB, LP MB=7 MB, etc. The biggest files are the content for SONAR and Rapture Session, but you can download those a piece at a time...a GB here, a GB there.

Rather than one big installer for SONAR like X3, Platinum has several smaller installers. Some plug-ins have not changed since X3 Producer. If you plan on leaving X3 installed, skip downloading/installing DPro, Rapture, Artist Instrument Collection, Studio Mixing FX Suite and Cakewalk Sound Center. These plug-ins have not changed since X3.

What I used to do was to take my Laptop to a place with better bandwidth and download directly and saved the files to transfer to my main DAW. I then used the offline installation which is a PITA compared to CCC.

At the time I was unaware that the CCC has a download folder where all files are kept.

So now if I was in you situation I would use any old laptop, install CCC and take it to a place with good internet and download and install the works.

    The content of that Command Center Download folder can be transferred to you main DAW's folder, same location;
    Found- C drive /Program Data'Cakewalk/Command Center/Downloads

Then it's a simple matter of running CCC on that machine and all will be updated without re downloading.

I just tried this as I put together a new main DAW so I copied all the files from the CCC download folder from my old DAW to the new machine , ran CCC and it installed everything in less than a half an hour. Nothing was downloaded.

So this new discovery for me is great. I don't like to have to spend time waiting for things to update every time I turn on my DAW. I can share folders on my home network so I'll just use one machine to download from now on. No need to do the same thing twice.
You main DAW still needs to be online just to run CCC but if you keep abreast of the updates it should save enormous amounts of bandwidth.

    Thanks again for the replies,

Good idea using the laptop, I'll see if I can find somewhere to bring it with better bandwidth.
If not, it's good to know it can be downloaded by bits.

FYI, I just placed my order a few minutes ago.
