Any Way To Mass Edit MIDI CC Control Data?
Hello, I am looking to bring down the overall curve of my MIDI CC data below (CC# 45). I would like to know if there is some editing utility where I can drop all the values of each tick by a percentage (like you can do with MIDI notes in the event viewer). I also want to set a MIN and MAX value as well. Thank You!

i just wanted to let everyone know I found the C-NTROLR.CAL which if you set to 3 will reduce or increase your CC data by percentage! Also has MIN/MAX!

I have Lua based MFX, in which such operations are simple to define (I mean for me, but when I have a time that is not a problem). Advantages over CAL: that in an FX, when used as such it is not destructive (till applied permanently) and so it is easy to preview/adjust, also during playing; there is at least some kind of GUI; standard "preset" schema exists. Disadvantage: unlike CAL, MFX can not work with many tracks simultaneously.

Also note you can set Min and Max directly on the automation envelope by clicking/dragging. Might be simpler if you're doing your MIDI work in Track View.

Hi Anderton, The thing is, this is not automation, it is simple MIDI CC data. Can you do that for this?

Yes, it works on all automation including CC data in MIDI track view. Hover just below the top of the automation lane with the Smart tool until the cursor turns into a line with up/down arrows. Drag down to set the minimum, drag up to set the maximum, then drag the envelope into the final position you want. Probably the best aspect of this approach is it also lets you "compress" MIDI CC data easily and visually.

When converting CC MIDI data to automation in SONAR, be aware that you may be giving up resolution. SONAR appears to only output CC values from track automation at an approx. rate of 24 parts per quarter note. In many cases 24 PPQ is adequate, but possibly not for controls that may exhibit zipper effects or when the slope of the MIDI data is very steep. The follow examples demonstrate the effect. Image #1: Original CC#1 data hand drawn in the PRV Controller lanes. Image #2: Same CC#1 data converted to track automation. Image #3: Track automation recorded into another track using loop back recording. Notice the reduction in CC density between 4:03 and 5:02. Hope this helps, -- Ron

thank you everyone good stuff. One little add on question. What if I want to simply COPY the MIDI CC data and paste it (or loop it) through the track, but DO NOT want to copy MIDI notes? Just the CC movements. Is this possible?
Thank You, Adam

Absolutely! 1. Select the clip that contains the CC data. 2. Use the Edit > Select > By Filter... menu option. 3. Clear the Event Filter dialog using the None button. 4. Click the Control checkbox and edit the Min/Max CC# and the Min/Max Value fields as required. 5. Click OK. 6. Now you are ready to use Copy (Ctrl+C) and you can Paste wherever you like. Hope this help, -- Ron

I also want to say you can use The Smart Tool in PRV. Right-click your mouse and shade over the data. Then hold Shift and Ctrl keys on your keyboard. Position the Smart Tool over the dot and then drag.
