USB Devices show but can't be checked

Why would USB connected devices show in the Preferences=>Devices but be grayed out, and cannot be checked?  It's the same for both input and output. I can use them with another DAW product, but not Sonar Plat, October update.

    It may be Preferences > Audio > Playback and Recording "Driver Mode" is set to ASIO. The ASIO specification only permits the host to use one driver at a time. To use a different driver the current input and output settings must be deselected.

    That was it, thanks, I overlooked that ASIO/USB driver split.
