Izotope...........Some seasonal cheer
I recently bought the Music Production Bundle when it was on offer as I quite liked the look of the new Neutron Advanced and as I already owned Ozone 5 the upgrade pricing made it a bit of a no brainer to just buy the whole bundle and upgrade my standard ozone to advanced at the same time. As Sonar was notably missing fron the compatability specs I had already contacted them to ask if there was an issue with sonar and the answer was that there was no reason that it shouldn't work, just that it hadn't officially been tested with Sonar. So I bought it and there was indeed a problem with Neutron, which I believe was noted by others elsewhere among these forum pages at the time, so it would be fair to say that there were some teething problems with my new toy, which is never pleasing, but to their credit Izotope were very responsive and after some to and fro it's now working and all is good. The point of this post (yes readers, there is one and here it comes........) is to acknowledge some excellent customer service. Like many, I'm quick enough to complain about shoddy service, so seeing as it is supposed to be the season of goodwill and all that I figured that good sevice deserved a proper mention, so if you were maybe considering Neutron but have been put off by reading of problems with sonar then fear not, they are on the case and it works now. It works very well. I like it. A lot. I also very much like O7 compared to O5.......I was always perfectly happy with O5, but the current UI is a massive improvement and almost worth the upgrade on it's own. I've even surprised myself by using the included Trash 2, which I never expected to have any use for at all, but it can sound great on a bass track. Whod'a thunk it ? Well, them and probably most of you, but I didn't so it was a nice bonus for me. That is all.

Great post paulo. If I sold a product I'd aspire to that level of customer satisfaction.

This is a big factor when I see all these other individual plugins by other companies for sale (even at no brainer prices or BF deals).....I always think, I have that in O7A and I can save myself some $$ for something else. Good post Paulo.....glad to hear about positive customer service from Izotope (a lot of other companies should take note).

I'm beginning to think along those lines too. When advanced fist came out (v5?) the price v standard was way OTT IMO - just couldn't see the value in that, but now that the upgrade pricing has become more sensible it's a no brainer especially for the likes of me who have a very much hit and hope approach to all this stuff......gets you nearer to where you want to be quicker - just needs a talent button now ! I do wish that they hadn't dropped the reverb module though - I know that you're "not supposed" to be adding reverb in the mastering stage, but I liked the sound of some of the presets in that and it would be nice to have that as a standalone module like the others to use on tracks or busses

They certainly should. AAS are also first rate in that dept as are their products for that matter. When I see it done this well it just baffles me that others seem incapable of doing it. It really isn't difficult.

paulo, So for Neutron, did they give you a pre-release patch? or have you tweak something? Just wondering.

ArcRex paulo, So for Neutron, did they give you a pre-release patch? or have you tweak something? Just wondering.
I had downloaded and installed the demo of Neutron Advanced which was problematic to say the least and kept crashing sonar. I had to uninstall that and then re-install using an "updated" installer that they sent to me with a custom install omitting the VST2 version as they said that was where the problem was. Worked a treat after that. When I later bought the bundle I chose not to install Neutron Advanced as I figured that this would overwrite the current istallation and might give me back the original problem and for some reason this casued problems with the VST scan and kept making it crash once it hit the neutron .dlls, so I removed them and re-installed the updated installer and that seemed to solve that issue, but I still had some fiddling to do as although VST scan was working there were several totally unrelated dll's that it would no longer pick up for some reason so I then had to manually delete and replace those too which was a pain. Izotope not only thanked me for helping them to identify the problem, but were also very generous in their acknowledgement of the trouble I had been put to. ;)

I am also getting crashes with Neutron. I installed the VST2 version. I have been in contact with Izotope and they have been helping me. No luck so far. I'd like to re-install using an "updated" installer as you have done, OP, can you post the installer, PM me, or provide the info for me to get the installer? Thanks in advance. Cheers!

My installer did not give me any option as to what VSTs it installed from what I noticed. How did you get it installed with just the VST3?
Sonar Platinum, EWHO/D, Spitfire, Miroslav, Pianoteq, ...., Kurzweil.

I manually removed the VST2 files for Neutron and my issues went away. I also got a response for izotope support essentially to the same effect.

Ok, I have re-installed Neutron with only VST3 (thanks, Paulo). I did this after removing all remnants of previous install, but still have the 'crash'. All is good, real time analysis display choppy, until i run the assistant. Then, as the music goes on smoothly and the mix becomes clearer, the Sonar screen hangs in fits and starts then hangs forever until you while the music plays. I am wondering if it is my ancient GeForce GT 240 video card in my 2.6GHz., i7 Quadcore Win7 64 pro. However, I did notice one of the eight processors in sonar spike and the rest shut off, and then it stayed that way, even after closing the project. Hmm... Maybe i should open a new thread?
