Giving the Bakery another shot
OK, I am still trying to keep an open mind about the Bakery but so far my experience can be summed up thusly: The Bakery = C.H.A.O.S. Tags are fine if you're looking for something specific, but if you just want to browse and see what's going on... mess! Am I missing something? Discuss amongst yourselves

Yeah, I agree. I have spent some time in there, even posted a question/idea (that I got a good answer to.) Its lack of structure overwhelms me a bit. In the current forum, I like the fact that I can instantly see in each subforum if there are new posts and then go into them and see the new posts. I also like the indicators that I have posted in a thread. None of that exists in the bakery and it makes it difficult to use. I also don't like the way responses are ordered.

Another thing missing is a preview. In this forum if I hover the cursor above the post title it shows the first few lines in a pop-up box. This helps when you are trying to decide if you want to look at the post, especially if the title is not very descriptive. No such preview feature in the Bakery.

If Cakewalk closes this site and just provides The Bakery, I'm going to need a safe place to cry, play with coloring books and PlayDough. Maybe a nice puppy would help.... Walt

A few visits have shown that it is getting a bunch of questions that have been asked and answered on this forum multiple times. This is literally a case of reinventing the wheel. Visitors to the Bakery will not apparently be aware that these questions have been answered, and will not be able to find an answer there until it is answered de novo again on that forum. In other words, until the Bakery has been running for years, it will not be populated with the rich trove of experience represented here. On the other hand, you can look like a genius there by just copying the answers we all know and love from the SONAR forum here.
