NEW REQUEST : Select track from remote controller

Hi,

Neither "Generic Cakewalk" nor "ACT" surfaces has an option to seleck an individual track from remote ccontroller to map/learn. Also the existing function on the ACT surface mapping page for "Next Track" "Previous TRack" does not work.

Is there a possıblıty to add thıs as a PArameter mapping to Generic Cakewalk Surface ? It sı a very stable one and there many other parameters which could be added to this surface.

In AZ Controller (see my signature) can do focusing (absolute, relative, remembered, by strip name, etc.).

Just note there is a difference between "focused" and "selected" strips. "Focused" can be only one strip per type, so one Track and one Bus. The track inspector always shows focused strip from "current" strip type.

Selected tracks means selected content in tracks. But selection is also used for group operations with strips (normally with Ctrl key).

Control surfaces can "focus" strips but can not select them (except generating "," key to select focused strip, unfortunately not working correctly in that context since track focusing by mouse/keyboard is decoupled with track focusing by surface (a bug in Sonar) and so you sometimes select something unexpected).

    Hi,

I know the software you are offering but unfortunately it is blocked by my anti-virus software for containing a Trojan horse.

What I would expect from Sonar developers is to provide a convenient way to map any keyboard shortcut command to a mappable/learnable controller number.

For instance I can select ( focus indeed ) any track by just pressing up and down arrown on my keyboard, so that should also be a mappable/learnable CC parameter.

I believe its probably a reputation scan not a Trojan horse. The software is fine. It can easily be added to your AV exceptions list.
I hope it doesn't sound to disconcerting but It took years to get an update to Mackie Protocol (what I use now) so im not sure I see Cakewalk adding this anytime soon.

I like your enthusiasm though. There are a lot of features we need to have added to Sonar. I have a few myself.

Thanks for the response. Are you the developer for this software ? Do you have a safe download link ?

Ahhh the ole dig  I can see where this is going.
I can verify I have downloaded it (and downloaded it again 2 weeks ago for reinstall) and used it without any issues. Matter of fact, I didn't even receive a warning from my AV. Im using Avast (Avast and MS essentials is what the general users of DAW software run) possibly you are using Norton AV.

Anyway, I wish you luck. I will no longer respond as I wish not to sound negative.
    Happy holidays.

Please be so kind and write which antivirus has detected something in my 0.5Mb installer.

    Hi,

It was Bitdefender that was blocking the download page for Web reputation, but possibly I was redirected to an external site rather than the direct download link.

    This page looks ok:
    http://www.azslow.com/index.php?action=downloads;cat=2

I have just downloaded the exe file and will try and inform you.

    Many thanks for your help.

    By the way:

Sorry if I sounded a bit suspicious, I just wanted to have direct contact with the develeoper so that I could provide some feedback.

    No puns or ponnies intended.

    By the way;

One should not share the AV version one uses, because it will provide a security breach for attackers :)

I've found the link that Bitdefender blocks:

If you go to this page :
    http://www.azslow.com/index.php?topic=297.0

    And then click the link:

I believe its probably a reputation scan not a Trojan horse. The software is fine.

Thanks for the response. Are you the developer for this software ? Do you have a safe download link ?

"AZ Controller" is developed by me (azslow3) and downloadable from www.azslow.com

I compile the plug-in on Linux using GCC cross-compiler. The installation package is created (also under Linux) with NSIS: http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page

From my knowledge, there should be nothing bad in it. But while I have hard time to believe some Trojan has managed to infect the cross-compiler such a way that it creates infected DLLs, I run Nullsoft  under Wine. So theoretically some software can infect the resulting package.

But most probably, that is just another "false positive", which is not unusual (see http://nsis.sourceforge.net/NSIS_False_Positives )

I know the software you are offering but unfortunately it is blocked by my anti-virus software for containing a Trojan horse.

Please be so kind and write which antivirus has detected something in my 0.5Mb installer.

Possibly it was a Trojan Pony ?

Pony is still too big... may be Trojan Mouse?
VirusTotal/Invencia has found some Trojan (different one) even in one of my first releases, 75kB installer size...

I am not commercial company, I do not have time nor resources to fight with that as long as it is false positive. But in case there is some (super intelligent, handcrafted in assembly) Windows virus exists on my Linux notebook, I would like to know...

Thanks for pointing. 5 Virustotal engines have detected a virus in my 43kB cross-compiled actfix !
I have just recompiled it with newer Ubuntu (was 12.04, now 16.04). It is now 45.5kB, but only one engine still detect malware there.

Common, this executable includes handwritten  XML parser and writer, more smart then MS one (one actfix operations is to fix MS badly written XML so MS can read it again...), smart configuration merger, GUI, etc. I am REALLY GENIUS if I have managed to also fit a nasty malware/Trojan into that final size. I should admit that my smallest (but meaningful) executable for Linux is under 2k is size... but I am not writing in assembly for Windows at the moment

Do you have an uninstallation steps for this ?

AZ Controller support standard Windows un-installation procedure, should be completely restless (files and registry).

BTW if you need a preset for AZ Controller to move focus (creating it can take significant time for you, but not for me), just let me know.

Might be worth to check with the AV vendors.

I assume the software is listening key storokes and other events, and might be the similar methods are used in other malicious software that makes heuristic algorithms to tag it as a trojan.

I am REALLY GENIUS if I have managed to also fit a nasty malware/Trojan into that final size.

Might be worth to check with the AV vendors.

yes, the av vendors are known to identify really genius, and have a certificate for such

I assume the software is listening key storokes and other events, and might be the similar methods are used in other malicious software that makes heuristic algorithms to tag it as a trojan.

    "keylogger"

but seriuosly, you should contact the remaining one that misidentifies it, get it on the white list

    just a sec

Heuristic detection is for the software that has not yet been officially identified as Virus but uses the same methods and libraries that identified ones use.

If I were you I would contact Sonar developers and try to find a way to integrate your branch of module development into theirs, which would make your one a part of officially approved software.

Good luck with the development. I'll stick to Generic Sureface + ACT which is working well for now if I limit my needs.

Might be worth to check with the AV vendors.

For commercial company that is probably the only way... Recently I have seen that LANDR installer (distributed with Sonar) was identified as Trojan/Malware (I have not installed it, so I can not check myself).

But for me, that is pointless, as long as I believe the problem is not real.

At work we was curious about the situation with viruses in our organization. So we have tried almost all major Antiviruses, checking what we believe is clean and some some infected files. We was not surprised that most "products" have failed the test badly. And no surprise that the product which has found all real viruses/malware/trojans we had also was most correctly declaring clean systems as "clean" (still not perfect, but nothing is perfect in this world). Why should I help companies which produce bad products and damage my reputation? I just "blacklist" them for myself.

I have tried ones with Bitdefender. Not only I had to dig where should I report "false positive", I have got absolutely no excuses nor explanation why they have exposed me as "a crime" to thousands of people in the world. They have silently removed my site from the list.

I can verify that the azfix download page is removed from Bitdefender blacklist, and is downloadable now.

"Leaking MIDI" when GS+ACT MIDI are on the same input, limited number of controls, limited number of operations, completely broken VST dynamic mapping, no feedback.
All that is addressed in my plug-in and tool, but some "trustable" people have declared me an evil... I can understand them, they successfully sell nothing for big money and they do not like anyone who delivers something useful for free.
But as the result, you are limited... and I unfortunately can only wish you all the best.
