Rolling back latest update - anyone else...?
Man... I have never had so many issues before. Crashes. Lots of them. Deleting some 3rd party vst synths locks it up and crashes it. The help module keeps showing up. I liked the synth rack where it was.
All the other previous updates have been great. This one... not so much. Anyone else suffering?

I've been experiencing a lot of random crashing when trying to open some projects, other than that not really any other issues. I do wish they could have kept the Synth rack where it was though.

September was my last update due to the issues everyone else was having. Honestly, I think I'm done updating. It was a good run but I've grown weary. Currently my only issue is crashing when I side-chain but that's no big deal. Love Platinum to death!

I'm back to 10 on my desktop, I had to roll back to my last image file.12 was that bad, rolling Sonar back didn't really "fix" things. 11 is running fine on my studio rig. Couple little niggles, but I would call it stable. Once bitten twice shy, I'll be very cautious installing 12 in the studio.

I stopped at September too. I'm kind of jittery about going any further because of all these crash reports. And like Jeff I LOVE SPLAT.

There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews. I happen to be having great success myself. My PC/System is less than a year old (Intel I7 4700k 1150LGA) and my Audio card (Focusrite 18I8) has the latest drivers and im using Windows 8.1. My projects consist of both Audio and Midi and I use potentially 30 - 60 plug ins per project. Ranging from some of Cakewalks stock plug ins to Waves, Softube, Overloud, exc)

i have found the latest release to be pretty much rock solid for what i normally do. i say "for what i normally do" because i was messing around with craig andertons latest tip of the week, and i have never before so much as opened the loop construction view in all my years of using cakewalk products, but when following along (or trying to) the instructions i experienced crashes, which may or may not have occurred for me had i tried the same thing in the past (it could also be that i am doing something totally stupid ). but as far as for my normal usage of platinum, like i said for me it appears to be rock solid, with no sign of any of the issues that many users seem to be experiencing, and performance is as good as one could wish for, excellent really. [edit] forgot to mention that i am on windows 10, but haven't updated since july, still on 1511 [edit 2] it appears pilot error to be the problem, not sure what i was doing but just be thankful i'm not an airline pilot.

Pretty much feel exactly the same as Jeff. Very stable 2016 - 09 on win 10. I have a disc image that includes the OS at that point and after two fairly disastrous update experinces (Sonar only - attempted both with and without windows updates) I am more than happy to sit it out for a while. It was a great run up to that point though!

Yeah, September seems to be very stable except for what I mentioned. Last year was great for me, every update! This year, not so much. Ever since they announced the "BIG SURPRISE" things haven't been the same and I lost that good feeling when an update was forthcoming. Anyway, I ended up with a great DAW which I'm grateful for. Thanks Cakewalk!

Jude77, I didn't think this would last forever. Sonar is the only DAW I've ever owned and have invested much time learning. But its time to start making music! Enjoy the holidays!

Post what issue you had in the thread (e.g., at what point it crashed) and I'll see if i can assist. I tested before posting, that's how I got the screen shots. However...I'm using 2016.12 with Windows 10.

I imaged the C: drive just in case, and I'm on the very latest (as in last night) version of Windows 10. I have experienced only two problems, the rest is rock solid on three different machines: 1. Sometimes when I open a project, SONAR crashes. If I open it again, it works. From there on I can close and open as much as I want; seems to happen only after a cold start or restart. 2. "Slide over to make room" isn't working right when you have a clip with more than one split and you move the first split to the right, either by moving or stretching. This may not be a new issue. So, not rolling back at this end. Hopefully Cakewalk will find out the variable that's causing problems with some computer environments.

so to amend my thoughts on the latest 'official' version of platinum, 2016.11, i'm happy to say i have come across zero issues in my travels

How can it "hose all your control surfaces"? Control surfaces are handled with plug-ins, which haven't changed since the dawn of time. I'm using Artist Series controllers with Eucon, and the Kore controller generically. What happens when you go to Control Surfaces in Preferences, and click on the star to add a control surface? Does a list of control surface options show up?

Yes, No 1 same as Mr Anderton. A couple of other minor things...like I was working on one project and every time I add FabFilter Multiband to either the master track, or just a track, Sonar just crashed to the desktop. I tried this a few times with VST 2 and 3 and same result. However trialing it on a fresh project or template did not cause any problems...probably another vst conflict but has never happened like this before. The only other thing I've noticed is that I'll get these audio dropout messages after the project is idle for a maybe a few minutes. Doesn't happen during playback...only when left idle...bit weird as well.

I'm running 2016.11 on Windows 10 latest update. I posted last week of a problem I encountered when I installed the new update. I had audio dropouts, needed to re-authorize my computer and re-scan all my VST plugs. I beat the crap out of Sonar during my sessions. I run between 24 to 120 tracks on each session with ProChannel and 3rd party plugs on every channel and bus. Most files are created in ProTools or Logic and transferred to my Sonar session virtually always without a hiccup. Since re-authorizing and re-scanning my system is back up and running, with a few quirks. As long as I don't loop an 8 bar section while adjusting parameters within a plug in on the fly I'm good. Given the Herculean task this program performs, I'm confident bugs will be addressed. So I will continue the updates. This user community is wonderfully supportive and extremely knowledgeable and if it is indeed a replacement for actual product support, so far so good.

In both 11 & 12 Platinum updates, my 3rd party plugins have disappeared from the effects bin dropdown menu even thought they are registered in the plugin manager before & after a reset/rescan. they even show up in the effects bin on tracks in previously created projects. but, because they are not in the effects bin menu, I cannot add any new plugins to my projects. So, I've had to use windows restore points to get them back in the effects bin dropdown menus because (rollbacks don't fix the problem) once the updates have been installed. I have Sonar Artist on the same computer & it does not have this problem. Other than this one "Huge" issue, I have had no other problems with the new updates.

"In both 11 & 12 Platinum updates, my 3rd party plugins have disappeared" This may explain why the StudioCat was loading Ozone 7 in existing projects, but I could not "find" it to insert in a new project! I re-scanned, checking I think, the "re-scan failed plugins", its a long shot, maybe you've already tried it. I may have done this via Preferences>VST settings. I know it was a WTF? moment and I was "digging" around scratching my head (this is Win7x64 btw). HTH, T
