Export MusicXML to Sibelius

I use Sonar Platinum and Sibelius 8.4.2.  When I 'print' a midi Staff View track as a 'Export to MusicXML' and then 'Import>Open>MusicXML file in Sibelius, it opens perfectly EXCEPT no notes are tied.  Notes that are tied in the Staff View of Sonar are not tied in Sibelius.  No amount of fiddling with settings in either Sonar or Sibelius has corrected this.

This is annoying when completing a lead sheet with chords and a notated melody, and ridiculously unacceptable when working with a score containing several parts.  These are both high end products.

Has anyone else had this issue.  Is there a solution?

Presonus Notion shows ties in MusicXML exported from SONAR. So I think either Sibelius has a problem or doesn't like the way SONAR writes the file, or maybe there's something about the pattern of ties in the specific part you're exporting.

PM me an e-mail address, and I can send you a short example to try.

I have the same issue in MuseScore with the ties not showing up. Have to do them manually. And sometimes lyrics don't transfer very well either. I don't use staff view that much so I haven't pursued a solution.

I have the same issue only I'm working with Sib 7.2.  I will see some measures without the correct number of beats,  Chords missing (especially complex chords like A9/C#) and the ties missing.

When I transfer between apps,  I just expect to have to fix these issues.  I generate a PDF from staff view in Sonar and an MP3 to use as a source to correct problems.  I only use the MusicXLM as a guide or "dummy" track.

    Good luck...

Following is a thread I found on the Sibelius User Forum which states the Music XML output from Sonar is 'sub standard'.  I turn to the folks at Sonar to reply and hopefully correct the issue.  Thanks

    Hi There,
I'm importing XML files that I have exported from Sonar X3.None of the ties that I have are showing up in Sibelius. They are there in the Staff View on Sonar but are missing when I open the file in Sibelius. What am I doing wrong ?

    Cheers
    Justin

If you e-mail the MusicXML file to me, I will have a look at it and advise.

The MusicXML output from Sonar X3 is sub-standard, and does not specify ties completely and properly: it specifies the tie musically (in terms of its aural effect), but does not specify the notation representing the tie visually.

If you import the MusicXML into Finale Notepad (free download), then export to MusicXML again, then import the result into Sibelius, you will get a better result, at the expense of some loss of layout information.

Finale MusicXML export does a better job than Sonar.

I opened up am email work ticket for this question on 12/14 and followed up on 1/5 to which I have received no response from Cakewalk.  This is very disappointing.

you should report it officially (if you haven't already) via the problem reporter https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Contact/Problem-Report  and then add the bug report number to your thread title (edit the original post to do this) then bump this thread regularly until forever... you can also post in the problem reports forum http://forum.cakewalk.com/Problem-Reports-f77.aspx
    good luck!

I received a reply to my original email support inquiry stating that "there is no current update for this matter (so far)".  I appreciate the reply and the implication that they are working on the issue.

The trouble ticket is still open and I will be following the progress from there.
