First Tracks - a strat story
https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/first-tracks this song is my paean to alpine skiing. and, it's the first song i recorded with a newly minted custom strat: double meaning.

It's a very impressive album opener Rob.

I loved the tempo change. It's almost like the first tempo is the ride up on the ski-lift, and then with the second tempo you're goin down the mountain (after the proverbial bong hit). :D:D

thanks james, it seemed like the logical choice to me, of all the tunes, to open.

Lost my whole post! Aaargghhh. I listen to this CD in my car and I love it. Hey, Powder Boy, it is your time of year! Hey, Rob, I can't find that pic we took at your house last year, in front of the Buffalo pic. Merry Christmas to you and Kat!

Really enjoyed this! Very well written, arranged and performed. Judging color on the internet is sometimes tricky.... Is your new strat mint green? P.S. Just brought home some new downhill boots and can't wait to try them out.

hi eph! tempo change, yes, that was really just a spur of the moment decision, it seemed to go with the story line, more or less like you describe.... you've gotten to the top, after all the excitement and expectation building, then, you get to drop in on thigh deep powder. bong hit optional. heheh

Excellent -- complex arrangement, excellent playing, outstanding vocals and harmonies, crazy cool tempo changes, professional mix, etc., etc...... You know the usual batsbrew stuff. Love it!

thanks philz, the strat is a really cool build, very stripped down to essential (for me) statistics, works as planned.

ABull What a great sound -- as usual, the most pro sounding stuff on this forum -- I'll say no more as the necessary use of superlatives will quickly collapse into redundancy -- or somthing... Allan =-=-=
hi allan! thanks for listening, glad you're diggin' the sound, i hear other guys' mixes that sound much better than mine, but sometimes it's just a preference thing.

daryl, you make such great recordings, thats nice to hear you say about the mix.... yea, the rhythm change is pretty natural if looking at it from the lyric standpoint.... that idea of 'floating' on fresh powder, DOES require a rhythm change!
