Focusrite 2i4

I've been reading and researching the 2i4 . I like that is has a pad button if needed and quality seems decent. I don't care about the $200, but from what I see, people are getting 30ms latency. I can only conclude that with my Tube MP pre amp and my Audiophile 2496 pci (bridged to the pcie bus on my motherboard) getting way less than 5msec, why should I bother with a USB2 interface? For what I do in a home studio, I think I'm fine for now. I might as well wait for technology to improve a bit more. Although a new toy to play with would be fun, the purpose of building this fast computer with two pci slots was to keep my 2496 card. I'm running Sonar Professional. I should concentrate more on actually writing and finishing some songs.
Just thinking out loud.

The Delta 2496 is not the greatest sound card in the world. I'm not a big fan at all to be honest.
I didn't even think they had drivers for Windows 8 or Windows 10, I thought people were simply using the Windows 7 driver as a work around.

Sooner or later you wont be able to use it at all. So if you are planning for the future, I suggest looking in to the Focusrite line. They are very dependable. I have been using them for over 7 years now.
Had a couple cheapy's for mobile  systems (The Saffire 6 USB) My main Daw uses the Focusrite Saffire 18I8 with lightpipe capability's. SPDIF, XLR and 1/4 inch jacks.

The microphone pre amps in my unit are the same ones in the Saffire 214. Only difference is you will only be getting 2 of them Vs. I have 4. (I also have 8 - 1/4 inputs).

The Focusrite Saffire is a great line of Audio cards and can be had a very affordable cost.

Yes, using Win7/64 driver on Win10 and it is a little quirky.
What latency should I expect with the 2i4 2nd gen? I know that depends on a few things but can I get near 5msec on my setup?
