Recording booth noise reduction?

A friend's kid's friends recorded a promo for his second book.

Got a bit to much recording booth/room noise.

As kids are, they did not keep all the original files.

So, all we got is the you tube video.

Anybody got ideas how to reduce the recording booth/room noise?

    Maybe this will help?

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

The whole thing sounds very distorted, like it was recorded too "hot". I'm also pretty sure there's some short bursts of harsh digital clipping in places where they overloaded the analogue-digital convertor when recording it. The voice over is pretty distorted and harsh as well and as for the mix of voice and backing music......

I'm not sure I can hear anything I'd think of as "recording booth noise" though.

Was this recorded as speech only then the music mixed in afterwards, or by playing the music loudly in the booth while the voice was recorded by any chance? Either way, I'd start by eqing to make the whole thing less bright, harsh and in your face.

Actually, no, I'd tell them to go back and do it again, keep the recording levels lower and keep the tracks so a proper mix can be done.

I agree, to be fair, it sounds terrible and no amount of corrective surgery will ever get it sounding "good"

As suggested, get it re-recorded at lower levels.

BTW, there should be no such thing as vocal booth noise, assuming this is a real recording booth and not a converted closet (even then, if it's done properly you can get some stellar results)

Its not too awesome.... I hear clipping as well... however... you may be able to get somewhere better using a multiband transient shaper... such as the one in izotopes alloy 2.  reducing the sustain of the 600 to 1.5k honk before sending it into some kind of multiband compressor to even it out even further.  If the audio is already mixed with the music... its time for a redo

Be the first one who thinks that you can

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have been way too busy to try them. Soon.
