I took typing in the 8th grade, my dad insisted; how'd he know?
Took it again in the 12th grade, Will J Reed Continuation School; everyone took typing.
Continuation was mostly male, the few young ladies were pregnant, couldn't have them
mixing with the general population; bad influence?
Oh, and I told all the girls in high school how "easy" I was; never really "helped"

Yeh, I looked at that one, as well as its less-expensive sibling. I'm afraid, however, that what makes for a good gaming keyboard might not be the same criteria as a good one for writing and coding. I find lots of recommendations and reviews from gamers online, but nobody ever posts "this one's great for MS Word".

The multi-color backlit keys are pretty cool-looking, though. I think the red one would look nice next to a lava lamp in a darkened studio. Which reminds me, I don't have one of those, either.

If that doesn't suit you, perhaps the CoolerMaster CM Storm series will. I bought this one because it has no extra rows of keys for gaming, uses Cherry MX Brown keys (apparently best for typing) and the key labels are large for those moments when I actually have to hunt-n-peck (which isn't that often). It doesn't even come with red replacement keys. It's about as close to a standard keyboard layout I've seen in a gaming keyboard.

Funny how this thread about mega machines has evolved into typing/keyboards...

Back on track, the initial results of AMD's new Zen coming out of CES are pretty amazing and I hope this takes over from the overpriced and underperforming intel chip used in the megamaschine linked to in the beginning of the thread... would be nice to upgrade as a home relocation/retirement present!

BF, did the keyboard help with typos?

Just curious as I got a new KB a few months ago and I'm having hell with typos. I'm not sure if the key spacing is a little off or what but I'm looking for a new one. The issue is I really need a PS2 kb and most all new ones are USB. :(

I have never learned to type in the formal sense. I learned hunt and peck on an old Underwood typewriter. However, until recently, I could hunt & peck at about 90 wpm. :)

You don't have to have a PS2 keyboard just because you have the connector. If you don't want to use a USB port you can always get a USB to PS2 adaptor.
