Chords

Is there a way with Sonar X3 of showing, in staff view,  the chords that have been recorded. Or do we have to write them in individually.

    Staff view is definitely something very weak on Sonar.
    I recommend you use a decent score software such as Sibelius.
    There you can have this and many other features.

    Do you mean the chord name, such as Dm7, or Eb9, as opposed to the notes on the staff being stacked.

    It sounds like he wants SONAR to read the notes (and here it is not clear if he means MIDI events or actual audio) recorded and somehow derive the chord spelling and add the appropriate chord symbols to the staff view automatically. Nice trick if you could do it.

    Most music notation software that I use can do it, though not to audio, obviously.

    I never use it as I am somewhat particular about naming chords, and frequently argue with myself about names, let alone disagree with the software.

    So much depends upon context, key etc. that it never does a great job unless the chords are pretty basic.

    As Kamikase has suggested, it is the chord names that I am after.
    Similar to a regular piece of sheet music which shows the notes in the staff and the chord name on top of the music sheet.

    Like the chord track in Cubase?

    No, SONAR can not display the chord names for you automatically in the Staff view. You need to add them manually using the Chord option.

    BTW There is a midi chords FX that can help you identify the chords names. Depending on how confident your are with the staff and music theory.
