super impressed with Sonar's new CPU core load balancing these days! Can do so much more!

I continue to be impressed!   Just downloaded the latest Airwave 2 patches for Omnisphere from Pluginguru... and playing multis which brought Skippies  powerful MAC to it's knees during his demos don't even bother my VastMaschine at all... load is so evenly spread across my 12 threads, with none going over 5%... I can run a bunch of the taxing patches on multiple instances of omnisphere 2 without a hiccup... total gamechange I've always dreamed of!

Just couldn't resist posting this...Was headed to bed but just had to end the night on an exciting tone so decided to buy/try the new mindblowing stuff Airwave has just offered up.   I have to say the Baker's have truly outdone themselves in this critical area  which always frustrated me before!  The PC, with Sonar, now kicks a Mac's/Cubase's derriere!  I am sooooo happy with the way things are going.  I'm now able to do things way beyond what use to bring my robust system to it's knees! This is HUGE!

Thank you, all you techno-giants baking our beautiful DAW!

Dana

    I guess I'm lucky.

I'm super-happy with the new features, lenses, load balancing, and so on. I'm not experiencing any of the crash issues others are having. I'm running Win 10. i7-6700K, 16Gb memory.

I'm also happy with the load balancing. Restoring tapes and vinyl with Sonar is now about 20% faster as before. Rendering audio is now so much faster. For me that means more projects done and more money at the end of the month.

We digitize tapes, vinyl, dat, md ... in broadcast and studio quality for publishers, public institutions and individuals.
    4 x Intel Quad-CPU, 4GHz Sonar Platinum (Windows 10 - 64Bit) and 14 computers for recording tapes, vinyl ...

    4 x RME Fireface 800, 2 x Roland Octa Capture and 4 x Roland Quad Capture, Focusrite .... Studer A80, RP99, EMT948 ...

i didn't saw much differences , strange ....i get exacly the same balance with and without the update ....(i was checking via ctrl+supp in windows ...muti thread diagram)

Anyway i found this update to be quite serious ...i like the synth rack separed , but i miss the "display all plugins)"options to get em via folder ...when i demo plugins , i put all demos in a demo folder this way it's fast ...now i have at least to go to each brand or to create a custopm layout just for demos ...

I just installed the Nov/Dec updates and Plugin Load Balancing is a beautiful thing. Took the load off that 1st core.  Thank you very much.

A very cool option, although I haven't had any problems even under many tracks and plug-ins, weather 32 or 64.
Windows 10 etc. still Cakewalk offers so many great tools along with an Awesome Forum.

Looking forward to 2017 making a great program even greater.

@bitman, can you provide some details on the specific import and export scenarios where you have experienced a speed up?  I've been discussing what appears to be a lack of full CPU utilization and multi-core optimization for import/export in this thread.
I have not seen any improvements in this area in the 2016.11 and 2016.12 updates.

I found the load balancing option.  And it was unclicked.  I wonder why it is not a default?

Because if you're nit having problems (eg project doesn't have loads of plugins), then you don't need it checked.

Also, I believe it can cause issues on less powerful computers, IIRC.

I will try to look out the thread where Noel talked about it, when I get time.

Thanks jb101  - so it seems there may be a downside to have all the cores spreading the load.  I am wondering scientifically why that would ever be the case.  Anyway, I am sure there are bigger issues out there.
    THANKS!
