Getting my song from cwb to mp3

I have a short 4 track song that I saved as a cwb file extension. I went to Export to send it to my USB stick but the Audio option was not available. I'm stuck with cwb or cwp and can't find a way to convert it to a playable file. I need to get this song to my laptop that is connected to internet in a file extension that will play all audio. The computer I record on is not connected to the web. I have Sonar 8. Please help.

When you open a different project in Sonar 8, are the export audio options there?

Look at the "About" page in Sonar and make sure it's fully registered and not in demo mode.

    I use a 2 step process for generating MP3's

The first step is to export as a 16bit 44.1KHz wav file. Import in back into SONAR and listen critically to determine that your export worked properly.

Then use the wav to convert to MP3

There is a drop down menu in export options.

1- Select the length + Select the tracks you want to mix down.
2- Go to file / Export / Audio.
3- when the Export pop up menu appears Choose the output format .WAV (or if you have .MP3 / you need the converter). and select the Export options you want. Remember the file location its going to.

    Hello:

When you say that when you tried to export and that the audio option wasn't available do you mean that all the audio options weren't available?  If that's the case then you may be running in demo mode like JonD said.  If, on the other hand, you can export as a wav then the reason you may not be able to encode an mp3 is because you don't have the CW encoder installed.  If you don't have it you can grab it in the store.  I think it's something like $10.  If you don't want to buy it you can always do what Bristol_Jonesy recommends which is to export as a wav and then encode it in a free mp3 program.

    Good luck to you!

Thanks so much for all the help. I realize I didn't describe this right. I called this audio, this is only midi instruments, no vocals, no analog, no wave data. I was able to download the file to my flash and transfer it to my laptop. I saved it as a midi format 1 and it played on the media player but changed my instruments to other tin sounding instruments. Sounds awful. Isn't that why one must save it as a cwb so to capture all the sounds and changes? When I open Export it only allows me the option of Track Template, other options not highlighted for selection. ?? I've gotten songs to my laptop intact before but I can't remember how... been a while. I just need this instrumental song moved to my laptop so I can send it to a producer online. Is there any way to get it there and sound like what I created in my bedroom? Really, thanks for all the great help.

If you export a midi file from SONAR and then play it back on a media player your computer will use whatever GM midi sounds it has loaded to play it rather than the sounds heard when using SONAR.  I think what you could do is open your project in SONAR, get your sounds how you want them, then bounce that down to an audio track.  You should be able to export that track as a wav/mp3 and send it on to your producer.

Oh right! that's how I did it before. I forgot I have to change midi to wave first. Yes! Thanks jude77!
