yes, very nice. I'm hearing a Tangerine Dream vibe. I picked up Arturia CS-80V because of listening to your music. Really liking it (the synth and your music)

As I had not read anything anyone else had written I will say this has a very distinct Vangelis sound and feel Andy 😉😎 which is nice.

I take it those opening chords where from the CS-80, instant Vangelis vibe. Good stuff.

    Hi Bjorn,

Thanks for listening to Thank You

I must admit that I have struggled to get to grips with the CS-80 and I mainly use the provided presets and then tweak them to suit. It's such a powerful synth, especially with what you can do "under the hood."

cheers, and a happy new year

    Hi Adrian,

Thanks for listening to Thank You

Funnily enough, I haven't used any chords at all in this piece and it's all simple single note sequence stuff.

The first eight bars are just two tracks, an instance of Chromaphone playing three C notes spaced over two bars and an instance of Modular V3 playing one note every two bars, C, Bb, A and G.

At bar 9, an instance of the CS-80 comes in, but is playing a rather untypical sound as three quarter C notes. I think it sounds a bit more complex than that because of the ping pong delay used.

At bar 17, an instance of SEM V2 kicks in playing a single held C note. I use an arp patch called Bitpop which I tweaked slightly. Such a fun patch that and is what really kicked this whole thing off originally. Also, the melody that is played by Modular V3 changes for the next eight bars. As does the phrase played by Chromaphone.

So, the first 24 bars are it... They are now just repeated to the end, with the last eight bars repeated.

At bar 25, the SEM V2 continues playing the same thing, right to the end. I introduce a simple bass line which follows the Modular V3 notes and is provided by an instance of Hive. I also bring in another sequence, played by Hive, and pretty much augments the arp played by the SEM V2.

At bar 41, the bass line changes to follow the same notes as Chromaphone.

At bar 49 I bring in one more sequence, played by Hive.

    And that's it I guess

I must say that I love using ping pong delay to give my pieces much more stereo width and it also makes the sequences a lot more than what they would be it left dry...

cheers, and a happy new year to you

Thanks for the detailed breakdown, it always interests me how folks construct their tracks. Ping pong delay can be your friend in synth best tracks although you have to be careful not to overuse it.

I kept doing a double-take because I read "Synkotron" but also 3:00, and just couldn't correlate the two.

It's a nice happy piece, in Andy style.  Love the combination of synth tones.
